That cam might not be perfect but it should be okay with 4.10 gears. I have a 246/246 cam in the 512 in my Duster and it runs fine. I think the trick is the converter. I have a tight 10" converter in my Duster but the stall speed is still up in the 3500 range. The TM7 intake might not be doing him any favors. If there is room under the hood and in the budget then I'd switch it to a Trick Flow intake. I don't think I'd use a Performer RPM on a 499 inch engine but you could if he is just driving it around town. Try changing the converter first and see how that goes then maybe think about a different intake. A slightly smaller cam might also be in the cards but I wouldn't go much smaller, maybe just a few degrees.
