So for many of us rebuilding or repairing a small block Mopar this has been our bible. It was very well done - before internet and google and Wikipedia. This was OUR you tube. One of my favorite books of all time.

So I ask: Where are the three now? Don Taylor, Larry Hofer and most of all what ever happened to the star of the book that 273 equipped 1969 Dodge Dart. Although I thought it was a 318 due to the number of photos showing a 318 block.

Anyone know the where about a of these characters?

See if there is any "about the authors" info and post it here. A little info can narrow down a search.

My book of choice were the blue and green Auto repair shop manuals and the how to build small block mopars with the red motor in black boarder. I've never read the book in post 1.

I tried to "Google" All three with no results.
Weird thing is when I searched American Author Don Taylor, I got alot of Taylor Swift stuff - I understand that "Taylor" but I also got alot of Harry Potter crap. that was weird.

It's because Google no longer works. I've been trying to tell people this for a long time now.

That's my favorite edition of that book.... The "gold edition"...

It's more worn out than my favorite Playboy mag...

Yours was a later edition of the book in post 1...

I believe your edition still has the parts ID chapter, they eliminated that chapter in the later editions of that book... That's why I like the earlier editions better...

I too have an earlier copy at my shop. This I picked up because all the pages were stuck together on the first copy. LMOA!
Yes it has the in-valuable part number guides. This book has been quoted on here almost as many times as "what tires fit" LOL!.

Well....... I have the older version with the red engine, and engine bay, with black on the cover. Mine is coptright 1982, and does not have the parts list in it, or in back. I'm using it again on my 360, along with Krazy kudas how too articles on our site. Thanks Krazy.
Dave
I see on ebay the red/black cover books are over $100.00..........WOW. Mine is marked $8.95.

That big inch small block book....you have to look for the first version. Later versions, they cheap'd out and used black and white instead of color photos.

You're kidding me... I'll sell all of them for 99.99 each...lmao

I have that very same book and still use it occasionally. I also have that how to hot rod book in the above pic.
Another oldie but goodie is the old mopar performance engines book. I still have mine along with a couple other from the series. The engine book is a couple inches thick and covers slants up to hemis. I think it even has a section with 4 cylinders.

I have a Big collection. It’s not the same with a digital down load. People don’t realize how much can be changed digitally and you don’t even know it. I’ll stick to my real books thank you. No kindles or ipad down loads for me.

Those three dudes did a Quantum Leap, now they all take turns inside RustyRatRod.

But not, like, in a gay way, or anything.

Love this book!

It was my very first Mopar book I ever bought and I still have it.

I bought around 1986 and used it solely to rebuild my 318 in my ‘73 Dart when I was 16 years old.

I vividly remember a picture of them filling a 273 radiator with a caption saying “If we water it maybe it will grow into a 340”

I remember thinking someday I’m going to get a 340.

I finally did 14 years later in 2000.

Yep...I remembered the 'unfortunately not so' line as well and often still use it whenever I have to break the news to someone that they don't wanna hear lol
