I’ve missed attending races for lots of different reasons over my 45 years but never because of a sore foot. Last Friday I woke up with sore joints in my hands (minor) and a sore right foot. I had made a 99.00 prepayment for the big SFG race at Columbus Ohio but just didn’t have the get up and go to finish the transmission in my Duster and brakes on the motorhome. Thank God I didn’t go because Sunday I painfully put shoes on for Church and haven’t been able to wear shoes since. Very red at the base of my big toe stretching across the base of my other toes. Reading up I thought Gout. They squeezed me in Tuesday but had to settle on a Nurse. She ordered blood drawn for Gout and Lyme disease and gave me a prescription for an antibiotic. Didn’t hear back from the doctors office but I get my test results online and both look normal to me. Still can’t walk or sleep from throbbing pain. Missing our two day 5000.00 to win Sniper Race at Keystone this weekend really stinks. Only our Halloween Race left after that and then test n tuned till early November track closing. My son had to loan me his Crocks to walk into the doctors office on Tuesday. The young girls got a good laugh at that.

i have suffered with Gout for years, the best way to control it is with diet, when you start to feel it flare up, stop eating red meat and shell-fish.
Start eating salads and alot of vegetables.
Have your DR. prescribe Indomethacin it is a miracle green pill that will kill the pain within 24 hrs, and make the swelling go down.

I see the problem already.
It's from wearing

"Socks with Crocs"

Hey I did that for my kids protection. I was “that guy” that wore 8 inch high white socks and shorts but he broke me of that habit. Lol. I’m telling you those guys said I was rockin the Crocks so I may start a new fad.

Doctors office called and told me what I already knew. Test results normal so they are pretty sure it may be Cellulitis. I told her I was reading up on Gout and it said you could still have Gout with normal Uric Acid levels. I asked if there was any harm prescribing me a prescription for Gout just in case. She had to look into that and just called back and said it couldn’t hurt so they are calling that prescription in too.

The crazy thing is get this. My last two shopping trips I bought bananas, apples, oranges, and have been eating way more salads than normal over the last three weeks. Zero alcohol for probably six weeks and low amounts of red meat. Between that and walking 2.7 miles a day I lost 16 pounds. See eating healthy doesn’t pay. Lol

There are a couple kinds of gout. I have one of them. I would get it in my ankles, wrists, and knees. Absolutely miserable. They drew fluid from my ankle to confirm I had the crystals. My uric acid level was elevated slightly but not terrible. I'm on a maintainance drug now and thoroughly enjoying my pain free life. I couldn't control it well enough with diet and since I have to take crap for blood pressure, one more pill each morning is no big deal. I can't stress how much getting this identified and under control has improved my life and allowed me to be more active.

It is most likely the acids built up in your body, and don't drink any soda.
My normal breakfast is an apple and a banana.
Lunch is horrible if I am at work, normally eat out, if I am home, I skip lunch.
Diet keeps mine in check, normally less than one flare up a year.

My Dr. prescribed me 2000 mg of Niacin a day because my Good cholesterol was very low. What he didn't tell me is high doses of Niacin give you gout.
When I complained about a month later that my joints were bothering me his reply was "Oh, I forgot to tell you"Sometimes medicine side affects are worse that what they help.Just puttin' it out there.

I get gout on occasion . I think I have had flare ups since I was in my twenties but thought I had stubbed my toe or such .
Try putting on a pair of hockeys skates ! Zowie !!! But once they are on I am fine .

when my foot gets the stabbing pain, I reach for the bottle of tart cherry juice. I try for the less sugary variety if available. Hope your cure does not leave side effects.

How are you and the foot doing?

No real improvement. Was a week Friday since it started and I started meds on Tuesday. Kinda bummed out. Thanks for asking. my lucky son is racing in two 5000.00 races today. They decided to try to get tomorrow’s race in today because of rain forecast tomorrow.

You may also want to get checked for RA (Rheumatoid Arthritis ) A Blood test will show it. Usually affects your hands and feet first.

You better team up with "BigDummy" Last I heard he had some fairly serious "foot" problems. Good luck to ya.
