Center console ashtray bezel thoughts, ideas?

So I decided to take this little pitted up gem to work to glass bead at lunchtime and see how bad it is. It's pretty bad. I first thought to fill up the pitting with JB weld, epoxy prime the dang thing, and just paint it. But what color will work well. Semi flat black, dark grey, silver?

Or should I find a better one, make a silk purse out of this one with some JB weld and paint, or attempt to get this one rechromed. A lot of work will go into smoothing down the pot metal past the cleaned out pits to be able to chrome it. I am kind of a cheap *** when it comes to stuff like this that's hidden most times so I put up a poll.

This is keeping in mind that I also plan on putting a phone charging port in the lighter hole, and possibly the toggles for the 42RH where the ashtray goes, so it will be getting modified
