We lost one of our friends yesterday

Nougat (like the whipped caramel in candy bars)
Also known by Buff, Punk, and Trouble.

He was 10, almost exactly.

Did not see him Monday at breakfast, or for dinner.
Found him in the garage not wanting to move and breathing hard and shallow.

Took him to the emergency Vet at 10:00pm.
An hour and a half later they said his blood sugar was over 500.
Also a mildly enlarged heart and some fluid in his lungs.

Options were $2500 oxygen tent over night and no guarantees.
Then rush to daytime ER Vet and keep spending with no guarantees.

I'm kind of kicking myself for not at least trying to care for a diabetic cat.
..but I don't think he would have done well being handled and poked multiple time s every day.

It was quite a shock, as the day before he was up in my face sharing some salmon and white cheddar.
He had interesting tastes in food. All in all, quite the character.
Multi-syllable words (but never "meow"), piercing gaze, survived being shot....
25 pounds of whoop-*** in a 12 pound cat.

We still have his brother, Buddy in our crew. Totally different "personality".

I sure do miss you, Buff.
