Ya....I'm a day early...but I'm gonna be busy tomorrow.

No one to date has matched his guitar skills!! He played a right handed guitar (upside down and backwards) with his left hand and played it way better than most!!

I often wonder he would have come up with had he not passed so young. Can't imagine where he would/could have taken his techniques and creativity if he was still with us.... " If I don't meet you no more in this world, then. I'll meet you in the next one. And don't be late ...

Drugs and fast living took several away in those years,,,,
I have wondered what Jimi would be playing today if he was here.
Not because of drugs, but consider the others taken way too soon.
Buddy Holley, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jim Croce are a few.

I cannot disagree.

There have been plenty of guitarists that have not only matched his skills, but far surpassed his skills.

He was a pioneer for his time, but that time was 50 years ago.

Yes, there are some people who can play a guitar with tons of skill and can play very complex music but Jimmy could make his guitar play sounds (unreal sounds) that have never been reproduced by anyone that I have heard. They must also be able to play a guitar on the wrong side. If you have an example of someone who can mimic all the weird psychedelic sounds Jimmy played please post them here. Please include people who can play the same psychedelic sounds with their teeth, behind their back and behind their head. The person must be able to do all these things and produce the same psychedelic sounds to be comparable:________________

And play the guitar strings with their arm and behind their back and with their teeth:

Really? Then you're:

a.) Out of touch with guitarists of the last 50 years
b.) Limited in your exposure to said guitarists.

Ever hear some of the stuff Zappa's guitarists did? How about Vai? How about Satriani? (that list goes on and on). Geez, a 14-year old today can recreate those sounds with ease and have, easily.

Jimi was a pioneer, no doubt, and I am a huge fan. But your statement is just completely out of touch with reality.

Playing with teeth, behind back, etc, etc, is a stage gimmick and has no bearing on the argument. Because those "acts" were performed on stage, and NOT in the studio where he recorded those said sounds in the first place.

Jimi was left handed. He played guitar left handed; right hand frets, left hand strums. His signature guitar was a right handed Stratocaster that was strung and set up for a left handed player so it was upside down when he played it.

Hendrix was both guitar player and electrician. The equipment he created set him apart. Anyone who recreates those sounds today will use equipment similar to what he created.

So you admit that there's no one person that can do all the things he did on stage? I never said that there were no great (really great) guitarists. I said that no one person could do all the things he did and produce the psychedelic sounds at the same time?? Any great guitarist can maybe reproduce "one" of his sounds/riffs but no one person can reproduce all of his music using the methods he used. I posted examples of my proof:

No, that's not what I said at all. :(

Have you ever heard Free Bird by Lynyrd Skynyrd? I'll compare that guitar riff to anything Hendrix ever did. He was good, but let's not go overboard. I respect your right to think he was great, but I can't agree that nobody else in the last 50 years has been as good.
