So I am building this 06 5.7 hemi for a future A body build and am running into problems. I milled the heads .030 to help with compression I grabbed my adjustable push rods and measured the length. called a well known hemi speed shop and the push rods they sent me are longer than stock!!! How does that work? If I have milled the heads the rockers are closer to the cam so the push rods should be shorter?! Right? Or am I missing something?

Should be shorter. Send them back...they sold you what they had on the shelf.

I'd deal with Smith Bros., Trend or another specialty supplier.

Even outfits like Crower can make the pushrods... And Isky, Comp, Erson...

Yea, just wondering what length to get I have read on some sites that guys are using the factory push rods to help get rid of the Hemi tick.

I thought the “tick” was something to do with the lifters or that damn oil system that is the “eco mode.”

Okay!!! Up date I reinstalled the factory pushrods and the motor ticked for a few then cleared up!!!LOL It is running pretty good for the moment. But I am throwing a cam sensor code. I am wondering if the cam is to performance for the PCM? 212 Intake @.050 222 Exhaust @.050 .589 Lift Intake .584 Lift Exhaust 111 LSA Forgot to mention I am running the late model 6.4 lifters (so called hell cat lifters.) in the motor!!

When you start mixing and matching to the extent you are, you'd better start working with someone who KNOWS what they're doing and can guide you correctly. Going off input from everyone on the internet will likely lead to bent pushrods; bent valves or even broken pistons...

Funny thing is this started with me going to A moose shop that “knows” hemi’s and sold me pushrods that where to long. They where holding the valves open!!!!! But I got info that the hemi tick came from the lifters not having the proper preload on them. So with that in mind I installed the factory pushrods and it runs great !!!!!!
