This is a 22 inch shroud, can anybody tell which end is up? (See pics)

Neither you have it sideways. If it is a v8 or slant 6 it will only fit one way, but a v8 won't fit a slant and visa versa
The side to the left on your top pic is the bottom

The side that is up in the picture is the pass. side. The wider side or thicker is the drivers side. Your engine should be offset towards the pass. side. Radiator is more to being centered.

Engine location I believe, fan is a little low, depending on shrouds application. Different shrouds for different car/engine combination, fan size etc.

I have both 614 V8 shroud and 049 slant 6 shrouds here. I found the offset fan opening exactly opposite. So the slant shroud could be installed upside down in a V8. The relief for the ears of factories formed wire hose clamp isn't a deal breaker.
