Bringing the car out for a wash earlier today the transmission dropped her fluid. Car was in park and I was turning her over when it happened. I have no idea what part of the transmission the fluid came from. I thought I had blown a line, but they are still intact. It looks like the fluid came out of the of the hole in the inspection cover. That area was covered in more fluid than usual. The outside of the transmission pan gasket was a little wet, but not drenched. I don't think it came from there. There was fluid on the bottom of the headers. I think that was from it splashing off the floor. I checked the transmission dip stick and it was dry. I am going to try and schedule an appointment for a shop to get under there. I probably need them to drop it and go through it to make sure its good to go. I have know idea when the last owner had it worked on. Anybody got an idea on what broke? I know the pictures aren't great, but it took me a while to get the fluid up. It ened up being a puddle the width of the car going from the front wheels to the rear wheels.

Oops, That's a lake for sure. Did the seal get torn when the converter was put in?

Sorry for your leak. That stinks! Best of luck to ya! keep us posted.

Maybe the front seal popped out ? I can't see why it would just start leaking that bad.

Yes. Convertors crack there too,or a bad flex plate.

Just got my 360 runnin only to see the same thing not as bad but it's goin to tranny shop

Ah. I see. I had a friend of mine suggest a front pump seal must of let go. I guess that was what he was talking about. I have an appointment for the transmission shop next Tuesday. If they have to drop the transmission to replace it, then I will spend the money for them to go through it and replace all of the seals. Don't want them to replace one just to have another one go. Just hope nothing is actually broken. At that point I would be better off buying a new transmission. Shop rates are $100 per hour.

was it running driving before this? kind of weird to all of a sudden happen. could try jacking it up and put it on jackstands or try crawling under it with a camera and have someone else crank it a little to see if you can see exactly where is it coming from.

It was running fine. No issues. Just tried to get the car turned over and then I saw smoke. I cut the car off and the fluid was flowing out. Thats why I though I blew the line, but they were fine.

Shure your buddies aren't hiding behind a car with an empty jug of tranny fluid snickering? That is weird to fail that bad that quick.

Well anything is possible, but I doubt it. After watching YouTube videos on the 904 I find it letting go that bad all at once kind of odd. You would think I would of had a leak somewhere first.

Let us know what you find. I am predicting something silly. If you didn't run the engine very long there won't be any damage. Depending on what it is it might not be fun to fix it at home on the garage floor. You might want to have a chat with who put it together.

I will let yall know when I find out. I'm not going to wrestle with it. Its going to a shop next Tuesday. Wish I could find the guy that put it together. I haven't had any luck tracking down the last owner. All things being equal this was an older build. I have had to redo the entire suspension and fix some small parts. Outside of the headliner, everything feels well worn.

Oh the plot thickens. Hope it is just a loose cooler line fitting.

If u seen smoke did a line get welded to the positive battery cable? Kim

I will check for that before I take it to the shop. I have no idea. I physically checked the lines where the connections and gave a quick visual inspection of the lines while I was under there.

Fluid doesn't flow in the cooler lines while in park so probably isn't a line or cooler.
I'm voting for the front seal too.

Some converters had a drain plug in them.

Power steering hose?

I filled a C4 once while it wasn't running. Put the 14 pints in or whatever and most of it went out the top vent as the convertor never filled. Same result. Im hoping you threw the convertor plug, that would be 2 bucks and the cost of new fluid. sector shaft seal would only leak about a pint as the level is not much higher than that location Im thinking lower than that to siphon out.
