Id think the 2 4's would allow longer coil saturation like a dual point but much longer as there are only 4 lobes. UZFE Toyota V8's have 2 seperate distributors and 2 coils, one off each head.
This is exactly why. They were 'back in the day.' The Mallory "rev pol" was the same deal. I forget exactly how that worked I think it was a special coil
