I am guessing at this, you did not say why you had to change starters, I miss my gear reduction whine too. So it's a clearance problem, right? My tti's wanted a custom z-bar , then that got into the way of a Dakota starter. Not sure on your Doug's. You can cut, bend,, weld and modify your z-bar to clearance things, may have to anyway. But my next starter will probably be a Powermaster indexable starter. You may need a heat shield too, I did. '69 Dart Swinger.
