Weight difference between glass and steel bumpers on 71 duster/scamp

-
I put a fiberglass bumper on the front of my 69 dart and just had it glassed to the stock inner brackets. This winter I'm pulling it and drilling it full of holes. When I did the rear last winter I made my own mounting brackets out of 1/8" x 2" strap. I bet bumper and brackets didn't weigh 8lbs.

Sorry, the duster I tried to take every little ounce out of while using all the stock components and it turned out lighter than my 71 scamp which has a whole bunch of "lighter" things in it. You can't say "this will only save me x amount, so I won't do it". Every little bit adds up.
As far as the heater box debate goes, they sell nice little heater blowers that plug into the cigarette lighter outlet that work great for defrosting windshield and keeping it tolerable when you take the heater box out, and are a whole lot lighter, plus they can be put in the trunk while racing. Used one for a few years now.
Don t know if I can wake up this thread but that comment about 12v heater , have been experimenting with two(even one that plugs to battery 350W) without great success!these things hardly move any air and is luke warm at best (and that was tested indoors in my heated shop)???Can you recommend a model that works? Also Where are you from(climate)? Will try to post links to the heaters I ve tried...Thinking of putting a 1000w hair dryer with an inverter (some inverters supply 1200W continuous and weigh under 3lbs while a dryer will weigh bout the same) , so take out bout 30lbs and add 5.5 to 6lbs , like you said every ounce counts! Try to find 1600 places to lose an ounce....

Bumper are about 28 lbs. difference. I run fiberglass fenders, bolt on hood and bumpers. Swiss cheese the bumper brackets front and rear. Car weight is down to #3000 with no heater, no rear side window regulators, fuel cell, no spare tire well or tire, and lighter bucket seats. A lot of work went in to the front fiberglass to make it look like steel fenders.

Bumpers and brackets are probably together less than 50 pounds.
1/2 a tenth, maybe.
I guess i long ago gave up chasing world speed records. I have gotten back to good looks, and willing to give up a tenth, tenth and a half to not have to sit my hood on the roof, or have painted bumpers instead of nice shiny chrome ones.
Opening up the hood the factory way is way worth it to me

My son wants to use a one piece front and still have the hood on hinges so one person can unfasten it ,lift it and prop it. Plus you can lift the hood and remove the front end one piece with the hood still on to make suspension and engine adjustments.
