Mild 360 Magnum Build

-
The install report is perhaps a bit different from what is the norm EQ head build due to the longer valves we installed. We ended up shimming the pedestals up .165 in order to get the rocker arms to stay centered on the valve tip throughout the rotation. The pushrod ended up at 7.025 I believe, this had the valve train staying nice a straight with no funny angles on the push rods or rockers.

that's what I thought I'd remembered
for those lurking a roller tip rocker would have required B3's kit or another way of relocating - especially with long valves

I forgot about this thing... should get dragged to the Dyno soon before I get to deep into my “ free cam build “

Were you ever able to get this on a dyno? I’m debating about putting a cam in my bone stock 5.9 with a knockoff airgap and was just reading around to see what I wanna put it. This thread and RAMM’s 360 true street build have been really intriguing

No Dyno yet... it’s sitting at my friends shop. I started building a new house last year and kind of forgot about it...

I gotcha. If you were just sticking a cam and springs in a bone stock 5.9 magnum longblock, would you use this cam or would you go with one of the other Lunati rollers?

Bone stock you are going to have to trim your guides and go for viton seals, springs, cut the spring seats
I'd go for beehive springs
that said
9:1 stock motor, trans, converter 256 @.006 HR Jones has the best grinds otherwise I'd go regrind

I got the cam recommendation from member RAMM based off some builds he did. The heads are cleaned up EQs that I did a minor cleanup on at my friends machine shop... I still plan on getting it on the dyno and will post the numbers

It’s on deck to hit the Dyno... just waiting for the owner of the shop to give us a an evening when we can go.
Going to bring an Eddie 650 and a AED 750 DP along with a Mopar performance distributor

I’m really interested in what it will pump out... my friends that know the build are guessing anywhere from 325 to 425hp...

Me too, I’m curious how well it does, I’m am thinking about the same cam, air gap intake and a thinner head gasket with a stock heads and bottom end. I know it won’t do as well as yours with the eq heads but I’m hoping it will be a huge improvement.

The EQ heads flow like mad so I’m having a hard time guessing myself... I think 375hp for sure

1750 Horsepower off to the Dyno….including the long forgotten 360 magnum

Can’t wait to see the results! What cam did you end up using for this build?

400 inch small block Chevy with CNC pro-max heads pump gas

500 inch big block Mopar with Indy heads 14 to 1
