Hey Mopar Guys/Gals,

I'm replacing some bent rear shock studs on my Darts 8 3/4 rear end. The rubber pads are very worn and I want to replace while I'm at it. I looked around a bit to include Mancini and cannot locate and am not sure of the correct nomenclature to do a good search. Can someone please tell me the name of these and if possible where to locate.

Thanks,
Marion

Do you mean these?

This is what I just put on my 1970 Firebird. I was also curious about these for my Duster.
I got the leaf springs from ESPO, so I asked them if they sold some. The response was that
A bodies did not get them, they are metal on metal.

F-bodies got ISO in about 75.... I think.
I saw a 76 Duster up here a few years ago,(going on 20 lol) that the owner said was all original; it had a complete F-body under carriage including the L-bars, and ISO

Guys,

Thanks. I'll have a pic later. I've got to get to where the car is stashed. I'm not sure of the original car for this rear. I will get some markings if possible.

F,M,J and late B bodies were iso mount leafs, 1976 thru 88 anyways.
Big honkin pieces of steel wrapped around rubber pads with the leaf sandwiched inbetween and clamped to the axle.
7.25, and 8.25 rears.

Guys,

Here are the pics of my Rear Spring Assy. Jonn the pads on the right in your photo look like the right deal. The pad has a center button that centers through the shock mount. I was planning to replace my shock studs as they are bent by the PO who ran Air Shocks. While it was apart I was considering replacing these pads with a new or a steel block etc, as these look soft and old to me. I'm not sure what factory setup this is or is it cobbled to fit a 73 Dart?

Here is a link to this product...

With a HUGE caveat... these are for 1070-81 GM F body cars (Firebird, Camaro). I'm not trying to imply that these will work on a Mopar leaf spring. They might, but I'm not saying that they will. I only included that pic to ask if that is what the OP was talking about.

In the OP's pics, it looks like there is only a pad on the lower side of the axle, unless I'm seeing it wrong.

Looking at Jimacuda's pics, these 2 sets might be a possible fit...

ONCE AGAIN, I AM NOT SAYING THAT THESE WILL WORK WITH A MOPAR LEAF SPRING WITHOUT SOME SORT OF MODIFICATION!!!

My 73 duster had the isolator mounts on it. I just hacked them off today and welded regular perches on the rear. It has an 8 -1/4 rear in it.

I'm going to go with cobbled to fit, final answer:D

I've not seen any A bodies with original factory isolators on the leafs.
I didnt think they were used on any A's, but I sure dont know everything.

The rubber piece you describe sounds like one half of the F,M,J isolator.
Not designed to be used uncontained from squishing out wherever it wants when clamped.
Also it cant do much "isolating" of the axle from the leafs if its only on one side.

Ya I've never seen them on an A body. I've had several 74-76 A's and don't recall them have those.

Heres pics of orig 69 cuda 8 3/4 "S" leafs. I had them re-arched. Not sure if steel/rubber banding is 100% oem?
There are plastic shims between the leafs(see first pic) that are original.

Just get rid of them, they never came from the factory on A-bodies and do more bad than good. I had a 1988 Chrysler 5th Avenue (M-body) with the full ISO-clamp setup, removed them and put in regular shock plates and it actually handled AND rode better, didn't feel like the rear end was flopping around when going over bumps anymore.

One of those terrible ideas from the 70s just like transverse torsion bars and super low-compression engines.
