Karting??..

Yes it has a starter on it LOL ... A pull rope... The lo206 has a pull rope. 100cc two-stroke has an electric start. And I believe the shifter karts are push start...

I would start mine on the stand, second gear, grab the rear tire and give it a spin. Had a zip tie for the gas pedal to hold it just above idle.

My son and I kart. He races at a series one of our local track has. We currently have a mid 2000's Birell with a KPV-3. Also have a Margay with a Briggs world formula that I drive. The 4 stroke stuff is great due to the ease for use.. pump gas, pull start etc. The KPV on the other kart requires a start box, outside of that, it wins hands down. A reasonable upgrade is the KA100 package from Iame, good power and electric start ( as known TAG). Let me dig up some pictures.

Last year a friend of mine invited me to drive his kids mini sprint. These things are a blast! This was at Victorville speedway dirt oval. They are direct drive 500cc Jawa engines on methonal. Somewhere around 80hp. Most fun I’ve had on dirt. His kids are incredibly good drivers and his daughter is last years champ in her class.

That's interesting. The pull starter on our engine was removed so you just stuck the pull starter on and gave it a yank. Of course some of those Briggs starters and the one way hub on the flywheel would stick and drag, couldn't have that on the track. And if you do get the kart, watch that right arm near the header. I've got plenty of scars from hitting hot headers.

Right elbows and cylinder heads don't get along well either . It makes driving the Yota 4x4 challenging though

I called the guy back on the one on post #1... I offered 2500 on his asking 2700..
He said ok.. probably going to go get it tomorrow...

Well it looks like I'll pick the kart up later this afternoon. I'll probably drive straight over to they kart shop and have a new seat fitted. I'll probably have to order a helmet and probably buy some gloves as well...
The seat in the cart now it's for the guys skinny kid and I'm sure my big fat butt won't fit in it.. I'm still kicking myself for not having him put it on the ground and sitting in it or trying to. I didn't have him start it either but these engines are known for longevity and reliability. Want to do pick it up I will start it and hear it run...
it's the same like buying a used snowmobile. You can hear it run and you can maybe bump it forward a little bit but it's hard to drive it. Lockhart extremely low to the ground and would scrape anything going over a driveway or something. Just like a snowmobile I mean you really can't drive one when it's dry out. unlike a dirt bike or a quad or you can at least write it up and down the street once and go through the gears..

It’s been almost thirty years since I’ve raced karts. If you are older than 12 years old you most likely won’t be world champion so just find the local track and get what most people have that run in a popular class.
I also recommend going to a kart racing school.
It’ll be more challenging and joyful than you expect but also you’ll end up spending more money than expected.

Try to fit in it first. Make sure somebody can take a picture and upload it for us to see lol

Oh and buy great safety equipment!

Current Snell sticker pretty much mandatory for helmets. Gloves, eye coverings of one type or another, long sleeves which is dependent on promoter's requirements. Highly skid resistant clothing usually works as in leather jacket or motorcycle riding jacket. Keep in mind in case of a karting accident, get as far away from the kart as you can!

Bagged and tagged......
Not only could my fat a$$ not fit in the seat when I went to the kart shop there biggest seat was to small... LOL.. looks like another week to get a special order seat in.. (extra fat a$$!!)...

That looks like alot of fun.
Thanks! That's what I was shooting for...
Looks like it's going to be another week before I find out. That is until my-size fat butt seat comes in... And of course the proper helmet..

When I came home with it in my truck last night when I circle around the block to get to my house my neighbor that's behind me was outside getting his trash cans out and seen me and we're pretty good friends. He seen the kart in the back and he lit up like a Christmas tree! LOL he was all smiles and you can see his gears turning LOL he said he can hardly wait to see this come flying around the block... of course he's seen me when I had my dirt bike or when it's snowing on my snowmobile for most recently on that little mini bike that I restored. He knows it's only a matter of time now before this is a go-kart coming around the corner... LOL..

Since the seat is inda way I can't see the clutch/chain area. Chain guard suggested. It really sucks when the chain snaps and whacks you upside the head . Some tech guys won't even let you on the track without one.
These are good investment too Rocket Sprocket Guard Saver
Driven sprocket probly the part of the kart closest to the track, this will contact the ground before the sprocket and with any luck will keep the chain in place.
