If a Nova wasn't bad enough......

My son has 90% of people call his 71 valiant a dodge dart. Honest mistake, easily understandable, and really not insulting. Lol. The other 10% seem to think its a ford mustang. Granted, he and I do appreciate the looks of a classic mustang, but always baffled by how they see it as a mustang.

My brother worked at pep boys while he was going to school. He had a lot of good stories like this all the time. The best was when he asked what size engine and the guy asked to borrow a tape measure. Of course he gave him one and watched as the guy measured the dimensions of his engine.
My friend tells the story of when he was working at a repair shop, an MG came into the shop on a hook. The female owner explained that she had checked the oil, and topped it off, and then it wouldn't start.

My friend drained 19 quarts of oil out of a 1600 four banger. She filled it to the bottom of the oil plug.

Try driving one of these. Most commit I get is "Beautiful car. What is it?" Even stupid people can't mistake it for something else.

I here ya Rusty. I worked in a local mom and pop auto parts store back in the 70's. The amount of stupidity that came in the door was amazing. Some customers I told that they really should have a REAL mechanic work on their car.

Obviously its a torino!
Back in my parts days
They are all the same was used too often as well.
I would just flat out refuse to open a book until they gave me some sort of starting point.

everytime i go out someone always asks what size engine in your car never mind the big 340 on the rear quarters .

I had a kid fill the engine up like a lawn mower he was so proud but 35 qts later he still cant touch the oil with his finger /grandfathers dies and he gets the old car to drive, first olds 442 with the 330 eng looked show room fresh ,but he was tring

I had a neighbor ask me about my impala recently.

Must be my old neighbor. All he new was Impala. The 15 years I had my 69 Fury ragtop on the road, the guy behind me would ask every Spring if I was getting the big blue Impala out. After the 5th or 6th year, I stopped correcting him. After 15 years, I moved.

I owned a '72 MGB for one year, a long time ago... in all fairness, that is not a completely unreasonable amount of oil to add, given how fast it leaks out :p
