Went to high school with a guy who had a '74 Vega, we pulled the original motor and trans out of if by hand, no engine crane, he built his own frame rails, and dropped in a LT1 350 with a TH350 trans and a narrowed 9 inch with 3.89 gears. What a little rocket that thing was. Another guy in the neighborhood had a '71 with a 6-71 on top of his sbc, narrowed 9 inch with 4.11s, wide set of Hoosiers and a full cage. That car was a handful.

Best friend in High School had a Vega with a Buick 231 V6. Cam, Headers, Holley, 4 spd. Was never embarrassed to ride in that.

Around '74 0r '75 I helped a friend put that same (but stock) Buick V6 in a vega wagon. Was a damned good idea. Looked that it should have been the engine used by the factory originally.
I think we used an Adapt a Kit. Went in easy.

Well, I for one really like those! Waaaaaayyyyy back in the day, I had a bright orange Vega hatchback 4 speed. I loved that car! I had to sell it because it burned way too much oil. LOL
Go back even further and we see that I had a Cosworth Twin Cam version that I had to have taken out of the back yard because my mother thought that we could not have any unregistered cars in the yard! If only I still had that one! I still think that if I saw one for the right price, I would grab it. But I would still keep my A-Body!!!

Friend of mine in the desert built a '72 Wagon 327 T350. Narrowest 12 bolt he could find, wheels with the most back space Cragar had at the time, still left quite a bit of tire out in the wind. He took it over the hill to the big city and while he was on I 15 a CHP officer stops him. Chris said he was very pleasant as he explained why he was being stopped. Chris looked in the sideview mirror as the officer was writing the ticket out, he had his foot resting on top of the L60 that was sticking out in the breeze . "I don't care how you fix it. Just don't let me see it again." Mud flaps were added to get the ticket signed off .

Agreed. I always thought that should have been a factory deal.

I didn’t read all the comments but congratulations on buying a car the older generation (over 80) would die to have. Plenty of room for the 12 grandchildren to go get some ice cream in. Another benefit is no one will steal it so you can safely leave the doors unlocked so if it raining you can hop inside faster.

I wanna see you get 12 grand kids in it.
