molded carpet recommendations

Go to the ACC website and view the different views of the three different styles of carpeting that is available from ACC. Once you get an ideal of which would work best for you, give them a call and ask them to send you a swatch of the material in the desired colors or material. We have done that for a number of our customers so that they can get the best match possible as it seems that the blues differ significantly from the different model years.

If your original carpeting was black, it is pretty easy. Several years ago, the ACC black carpet was having an issue turning a dark purplish tint after being exposed to the sun. That problem has seemed to have been resolved with the carpet manufacturer.

If your intent in replacing the carpet is to maintain the factory OE look, then you will be locked in to using the 80/20 loop. If your ok with using the more modern style materials, then you will have the option to use either the cutpile or essex materials. Expect to pay around $70 to $100 more for the essex material, depending upon the vendor that you choose. All three materials use the same molds to produce the finished product.

you can use the 100% nylon loop also in place of the 80/20 loop(oh and the black still fades to purplish, the blues still fade to beige and the greens still go yellow on ALL the fibers types). regular cut pile and essex isn't quite as bad as loop but if you even roll the remnants up the edges still discolor after 6 months. We order(well we did ,but you can only buy 1 yard of cut yardage right now due to the virus and 1 yard won't make a cut and sewn set need 4 yards for each year we do and 5 for the 66-9 cars) exclusively from ACC for our yardage and have seen this happen for about 5 years now , We go through about 100 yards (40 sets) of carpet a month during the winter and about 40 yards a month (10 lincoln 61-69 carpet sets) now we wait and go directly to the georgia factory and buy a roll of one color at a a time. last trip was 5 rolls of black, dark blue cut pile and 7766 blue loop. still no reds, browns or greens available yet.
