This car just sold for $522 dollars on EBay

Yup, he suckered someone out of $522 with a misleading auction.. if you look at the not so obvious details:

A) Listed in:Collectibles>Advertising>Automobiles>American>Plymouth

B) 1963 plymouth valiant convertible. Condition is "Used". Shipped with USPS First Class.

Or you are right, and he was trying to get around the fees for selling a car, where he got suckered!
 
Says it was relisted. The relisted auction was ended as well. Sounds like some fishy business is going on there.
 
Let me just say this about that. You cannot believe everthing "on the surface" of Egag. There are plenty of ways to get out of this deal, and we'll likely never know.

Years ago I bought an expensive piece of test equipment known commonly as an "r.f. service montor" and at the time the one I "won" was worth a bit more---but not a lot more---than what I won it for on egag. The seller was up in Can-uh-duh. I ponied up the International money orders and sent the thing up there registered. I also learned a bit about the non-cooperating between U.S. and Canook postal agencies.

In any case he claimed he never got the money, even though somebody signed for it, and never sent the item. I filed and collected on the money orders. Some time later, HERE CAME THE ORIGINAL UNOPENED envelope in the mail, with the money orders inside. It had gone EXACTLY to the confirmed address given.

I'll TELL you what happened.

The seller, over a beer:

"Sold that IFR monitor, for XXXX bucks"

"**** I'LL GIVE YOU YYYY bucks for it right now"

"DAMN!! OK, you get the money you got a deal!"

"What about the ebay guy"

"Oh, I can get rid of HIM"

By the way this was a Canadian radio amateur, I know his callsign and where he lives, and could not do a damn thing about it

Actually it did say it was relisted and then when you clicked on that it states it's no longer available, the listing is sold

1963 is a low demand year. If it's been listed with not much interest that might be why. Most people will say they don't like the styling of the front end and there was a time you couldn't give away a 63 valiant.

I have had many people call my 63 valiant wagon an "ugly little car"

I think they were/are very clean looking cars , would drive a nice one in a heartbeat !
 
How in the hell can you ship a car through the post office let alone 1st class mail? Pretty sure it weighs more than one ounce.

I've never had a problem with the protection warranty. As a matter of fact I've had problems with waiting for my purchases to arrive and after 3 weeks, notified ebay and received all of my money back. My last purchase had nothing to do with ebay but I used pay pal for the purchase and again 30 days later, no product, notified pay pal and a week later received all of my money back.

PayPal pretty much follows the same protections as any credit card. Mostly for the buyer but the seller does have a say.
