Could anyone tell me if the exhaust outlet is bigger on the super six set up?
Thank you

The manifold itself is the same as with the 1bbl though those that came from the factory with the super 6 had fatter exhaust pipe than 1 BBL cars.
Someone else here recently had a thread on this, but I have gasket matched a few of these exhaust outlets where the pipe bolts onto the manifold. Don't take long with a die grinder. Makes a noticeable difference when you also have true 2-1/4 exhaust pipe made to go with that

Yes, the exhaust head pipe was 2 1/4" if I am not mistaken, however, the exhaust manifold outlet was the stock size. Kinda defeated the purpose. Take a look at this thread. My friend Freddie opened up the outlet on the manifold I am running on Vixen now. It's 2 1/4". He also has done another one to 2.5". I never would have imagined there was enough meat in them to do it, but there was. I don't have a larger pipe on her yet, but it's coming soon.

Here's the thread with pictures.

My 79 Volare wagon Super Six had the same exhaust, engine to tailpipe, as the regular single barrel.
I agree, plenty of meat to open up the manifold to 2 1/4. I had a 2 1/4 exhaust made up for mine and it does make a difference.

I bet!!!!: When the engineers came up with the SuperSix idea, they wanted to enlarge the exh. man. for the bigger exh. pipe, and the bean counters said "NO way Jose!" LOL

So can you open the exhaust out let on a 1 bbl manifold to 2 1/4?

But just look how easy it is for a redneck doofus to do. Imagine how easy it would have been for them. Heck, I'd love to have seen an HP exhaust manifold...or even a split like the Hyper Pak. But oh well.

^^^ But then again, look at all the trouble they went to on the FeatherDuster!!!!! No doubt it gave them some publicity and BS mileage!!??? LOL I had one with the 4 spd OD and one with the TF, 5 mpg difference! LOL

Yeah and a freer flowing exhaust would have helped mileage even more! duhhhhhh LOL

On my dad's which had a 3 speed stick on the floor, it was great on gas, even better when it excised it's cat going over a set of RR tracks and we replaced it with a straight pipe

one thing I noticed when I gasket matched the exhaust outlets of the manifolds I have done.... when the gasket is set there and lined up with the bolts, the original exhaust hole has been not only smaller than the hole in the gasket but also off center within the casting, I have only had to grind out 3/4 of the way around the circumference of the exhaust dump, the remaining 1/4 of the way around, the existing hole for the dump already touched the edge of the gasket. and 180* from that spot, I have had to take out as much as 1/4" of material to agree with the diameter and location of the exhaust hole in the gasket..... dwindling down along the circumference both directions, from that thickest point of manifold wall, and I tapered the whole area back towards the heat riser deep into the manifold but I have never touched the inlet side (ports) of a /6 exhaust manifold yet.

what rear end gear was in those cars? Were they both the same?
My Dad's was a 2.9x, and it was also an early model year build, having SBP and 4 wheel drums.
It was supposed to have been my 1st car but shortly before I got my license for the 1st time my brother wrecked his 74 Charger and needed a car "right away".... so my brother wound up with it and I was so pissed at my Dad for letting my brother have "my" car..... the few times I got to drive it I loved that car/ even with its manual steering and brakes. I later had a 79 D100 w/a 3 on the tree and manual steer and brakes.....
In between I had had a 76 Charger (the car my Dad had replaced the Duster with for his "work car" for a few years) and I would get so mad when Mom would take my car, to go shopping or blueberry picking, strawberry picking and I had someplace important to go... like work/// and had to "bum" a ride. That 3 on the tree and manual steer truck, cured that problem really quick, she somehow never stole my truck...... when Dad had had his 71 F250 some years earlier I remember riding with her a couple of times uptown to the post office and she never took it out of 2nd gear the whole way........

You mean the Feather Dusters? They were serious highway gears, I would imagine. I don't really know for sure......and I had one. It was an automatic though.

yeah Dad's was a "Feather Duster". He had a buddy trying to talk him into finding an 833 OD for it and doing the swap back around '81-ish....

I am pretty sure the 833 cars all had the 3.55 since they were the OD transmission.

After putting a Super Six set up on mine I did open up the lower end with Hooker headers 3 into 1 and 2.25” pipe off each collector to twin glass packs w/ “H” pipe then both pipes around tank on each side and out the back.

Rusty, Along with some other improvements like.........
Breathing a little easier with the open element K&N air filter
Mopar elect. Ign. w/ Orange box and an Accel high out put coil.
Nippondenso alum. Mini starter to kick it over a little quicker
904 trans with B&M shift improver install
8 3/4” 3.23 in a 742 suregrip drop out, from a bb car.
Along with the non restrictive dual exhaust it kicks it along pretty good. Pulls great from a light, has positive shifts up. Will maintain good top end on freeway.
And all on 87 at the pump.

Rusty, waiting for results on the bigger exhaust opening, the feather duster rears were 2.94 and auto i believe were 2.76
