I am looking for the 1969 340 blue paint. It's not the big block turquoise, and it's not corporate blue. Every where I check, no one has it. Thanks for any help.

69’ should be orange. Maybe why you
Can’t find it.
I was hoping I wouldn't get responses like this. 1969 340 engines were red early in the year. Not orange. Later 69 340 were a blue.
I had a can of Mopar paint that was the correct color, but I didn't keep the can. Plus, I had 2 engines, both blue. One is mine. If you don't know, that's fine, just please don't try to make smart remarks, without the proper info.

I’m sorry- not a smart remark at all.
I’ve yet to see a blue 69 340. Sorry to waste your time.

Yeah, if I had known how hard it would be to find it, I would have had some mixed up.

Syleng1 I'm with you i had a 70 340 duster back in the day and it's 340 was orange. I didn't think they would change colors in between years but it looks like they did. Learned something. Furyus2, maybe you should ease up some. My opinion.

Ok. Not sure if I was hard on anyone. I was trying to avoid the whole " they never had that color " I'm just asking for help from someone who knows what I'm talking about, and has a source for the paint.

You know Furyus2, after your reply to Syleng1, I went looking for a color change and the three places confirmed a turquoise for 69. The "My Mopar" site has a part number for the color.. as a side note i believe everyone here has given an effort to help others and i have benefited from it. But sometimes we all need to give others a little respect.
Good luck on your project.

Wow. This makes twice you've criticized me for my reply. I have been on this site for 10 years. I have helped anyone i could, when I knew the answer. I try not to pop off with smart remarks, or disinformation. I found a reply to my question to be a smart remark. I replied in kind. We are ok. No harm, no foul.

Turquoise, here is a factory TSB. Notice the date, the first month was red and I have seen a couple of those. Some say late engines were orange, only one I have seen was restored and won gold at the Mopar Nats, I still don't believe it. Why has nobody ever come up with the "blue" paint without mixing it themselves?

But why Blue? Unless your doing a concours resto. I bought a brand new 1970 340 4 speed duster and the engine was orange. IMO the Blue or turquoise belongs on C-bodies.

It's nice when people have the actual TSB's from back in the day. So much history has been lost over the years.
Thanks for sharing HemiSSDart!

A 1970 340 would be orange, a 69 turquoise, a 68 red. That is just the way it was done. If you don't care about originality then paint it your preference...

68 red, 69 turquoise , 70-mid 71 orange, 72 73 blue . I owned many of each and the 69's were all turquoise that I owned and stripped. I have a 69 340 original motor here now and a 68 440 they look to be the same turquoise. I have the valve covers off of some I can set side by side and take a picture.

I never saw a 69 with an orange 340. 71 is the only year with 2 different colors Orange early and blue late

Is this the Mopar Engine Blue you are looking for, I buy it at the local O'Reilly's store. Its what I use on all of my blue Mopar Engines.

Buddy Brian used it on his 318 too:

It's a little darker, but it looks really good. I'm gonna look at them, and see how close it is. My engine is already installed, and I just need to touch up, but I might need to paint the whole engine.

GTS Registry suggests (at least for GTS's) that there were two shades of blue - a turquoise and darker blue. Might try Frank Reminger on the GTS Registry - he may be able to point you in the right direction.

Im doing the corporate blue at first i was gonna do orange even bought the paint but then I reconsidered it for 2 reasons one my car is orange and I thought the 2 different color oranges would clash and 2 that blue was original to 75 360s and I thought it would be a nice touch to have that originality factor. No my car isn't a restoration or original but I want it to appear as original as possible. Plus I really like the blue. Lol

This is the paint I am using on my 1969 GTS. Trying to match the original colour. I have the ground strap that was bolted to the rear of the motor for reference.
