72 duster 360 NA to 390 Turbo

Great job making all of that fit in such a tight space.
Thanks, I’m planning on redoing my hotside and change turbos after I get some dragstrip runs and a dyno session out of the way. This was my first hotside build and I have seen ways I can improve it.

Went to the dragstrip tonight. Just a local 1/8 mile track about 27 miles away. Drove up there, no cool down and it ran a dismal spinning 8.40 at 91. Let it cool down and ran a 7.97 at 92.5. This was on 6lbs, 20 degree timing and a 10.0 afr and street tires. Packed up and drove back home. All in all a success and a good baseline. It’s only gonna get faster from here!

Great job first time out! You're gonna figure out fast that you'll need some suspension and tires to get the power to the ground even before you turn up the boost. Your MPH is really good.

Thanks subcom! I was a little disappointed in the MPH. But it was safe for the drive up, race and drive home, temps stayed in the 180 range. It’s supposed to be nice this weekend and cooler high 70 low 80 so I’m gonna mess with the fuel some and get it out of the sub 10s. I’m sure there is power to be had with some tuning before uping the boost. It’s amazing what a point leaner will do for power!

Car has superstock springs and leaves good. Need more tire definitely and a better converter. Leaves a little soft but I’m not mashing on it till the 60ft. The converter is a no name 28/3200 but flashes about 3400 with my combo.

Anyone else go for a cruise to a show with their turbo blow thru carb in 35 degree weather?

Who needs a 4 wheel drive when you have 390ci, turbo and posi! Car is fine, shook me up a little. Fired up and drove out of the field better than any truck could. Super lucky, thanks Jesus for the soft water filled ditch! It’s time to turn up the boost!!! Btw those black marks are like 300ft long!

Doing my part for social distancing! Drive by your buddy’s house and help disinfect the air! Didn’t put it in a ditch, this time..

If you notice in the above video and back a couple of post this thing loves to hook left! Found my issue, I had the SS springs flipped left to right. Not sure when I did that as this thing has been evolving since 98. Anyway got them corrected this morning. Seems to go straight now.

Hopefully, I’m a little nervous but will find our hopefully this evening

A little update:
Lost interest for months while I worked on the hemi swap D150. Truck is super reliable and my next steps I need to plan out. I decided to work on the duster, especially the tune and show this thing some love. Worked on Leaning out the AFR some, 11.4 afr from a diesel like 10.0. Increased boost to 8psi. Car feels like it gained 50hp easy. Pulled so well I broke the motor mount again! I’m making a solid one for the drivers side and gonna make a engine tie down. To be continued. Trying to get to the track in a month or so.

We got new tires! MT ET streets 275/60/15. No more spinning at 50mph! Plan is to go to Rockingham Mopar show Saturday and get some 1/4 mile full throttle runs. Dead hooks on the street now but the trans isn’t liking the 1/2 shift. Transmisson was fixed by a friend of mine in 98 and has live thru a 318,360,360 with turbo and now 390 with turbo. I will post results good and bad.

There is a wh1c used turbo available locally. Was thinking about scooping it up for my 400. Opinions?
