I picked up a car old school build 340 mini stroker W2 heads 4 speed the 2 step appears to be activated by the line lock. Not sure about that just wondering what options. There is already a switch on the clutch pedal used for neutral safety switch.

It needs to work of the clutch pedal.

The human has never been born who can release the line lock twice in a row the same.

It goes on the clutch pedal, and as soon as you move your foot it needs to be off the 2 step.

Not to be a wise guy but how do you get a 2 step to do 3 things. As stated mine appears to be activated by the Line lock only. For burn out and launch set at 4800 rpm.

all the 3 step does is protect the engine from over revving due to a missed shift or driveline breakage......

Cause I have Girls that drive these cars...LOL
I set the burn out rpm to 6000
starting line will vary from 3000 to 3500
and the high side rpm is using around 7500.....

My 2 step is set for 4800 and 7200 on the high side. I know the line lock activates the low side. I’m not sure if I have to use the line lock for launch. There is a switch on clutch pedal to start car but it’s not wired to trans as a neutral safety. So I need to trace it.

If your 2 step is activated by the line lock but is controlled by the switch on the clutch pedal that’s fine.

How you “arm” it isn’t nearly as important as making it work off the pedal.

And FWIW, the 2 step should be OFF as soon as your foot moves. You want the air gap between the disc and the pressure plate to be as much as it can be when the 2 step goes off.

If you have the 2 step on with the clutch loading the engine it drags the engine too far down and the clutch gets blamed.

I’m taking it out for a test n tune tomorrow. I’m only interested in what it mph. As I plan to convert back to an auto.

put the rear tires on jack stands.....engage two step....rev engine up enough to hit the limiter......release clutch pedal...

My 2 step is activated off the line lock through a relay to the clutch pedal, you push the button for the line lock, push the clutch pedal to the floor to activate the pedal switch and relay, then release the line lock button. When the clutch pedal is released the 2 step goes from the low side(5000) to the high side(6800) and the relay shuts off, then you have to push the line lock button again to reactivate the 2 step to start the whole process again.

Ya mine seems old school it activates through line lock. Not sure if the switch on the pedal is tied to it. I will test it tomorrow. Like I said I’m just testing for mph, then over winter converting to auto.

Ran a test n tune at Sac yesterday only 2 passes as people were getting there licenses. I didn’t think I would like running a 4 speed but it was fun. I definitely need a 3 step. Second pass 11.22, 122.19 mph. Not bad for a little 370 ci. Lots more in it for high 10s. Thanks for all the posts
