i was wondering if you could help me.i just bought a 67 wagon .the tailgate was down when we went to look at it so i know the rear window will go down.now that we have it home i cant get the rear window down.the crank moves slightly then there is a hard stop in either direction.the window moves maybe an 1/8 of an inch and stops dead.the po said he never locked it and it worked fine for him.i have a key and it turns it about 90 deg but does the same in either position.it seems to be locked somehow .could there be something simple im missing?i think the next step is to remove the whole lock assembly but it looks like its bolted from the inside and hidden behind the gears.any ideas? does anyone know where i might get an exploded view of the tailgate components?

Sorry, my 67 Bel II wagon has an electric window.

It is real finicky to go up and down though.

Working back and forth several times with gentle pressure helps.

its manual.if i pull the whole lock assembly out by unbolting it from inside will i be able to crank it somehoe eliminating the possibility of it being the lock?

The early A wagon electric window will not go up if the tailgate is lowered. Reason is it has a little switch on the side to prevent it from going up when the gate is down. Found this out later when trying to get the window up while the tailgate was on the bench. Maybe it’s the same on the B wagon?

I’ve got a 69 shop manual; maybe it might shed some light on it. I’ll dig it out and see what it says. 67 & 69 ought to be about the same

66/67 are fold down only.

68 started the fold down/swing to side design, so they are different in at least that way.

its actually my sons..

You could try our sister-site forbbodiesonly.

There's a guy in eastern Ma that has at least one, he's has a garage full of "66" & "67's" and has helped me a lot. He know a lot about everything, I've found

once the window is down there is a slider handle to release the door so it comes down.that seems to be working ok.its just the window that wont go down.it seems to hit a hard stop right away.

Did you post pics yet of this car?
I love coronet wagons

If it's identical to my 68 Coronet rollers or the gears may have something blocking them. You may be able to remove the glass by removing the clips securing the regulator arms to the glass bottom. That is if you can access them in the "up" position. With the glass removed you may be able to see if the lock mechanism is the problem. I have a 68 manual if you need the glass removal steps.

Do you have the access panel off?

panel is off.gears look to be free.cant see too much of what i need to see because its all on the other side of the gears.
