Since I have nothing better to do this morning and I'm sitting here looking at my dead Dart in the driveway, it occurs to me I've heard of a number of other folks in the same boat. So how about a contest to see who has the deadest Dart?

All you need to enter is a non-functional 69 Dart, a photo, and an explanation why it's dead. Once we see how many contestants we have I'll add a poll to the thread so everyone can vote on who wins the title for Deadest Dart. Who wants to play along?

I'll kick this off with my little gem. It has no driveshaft, maybe no tranny, no exhaust, no brakes and no electrical anything working except it does run. My ETA to get this running was Memorial Day, then the 4th of July, then Labor Day, now it's back to Memorial Day again. Hey, I'm right on target - I didn't say which Memorial Day, did I? Here it is the day I drug it home.

In all fairness it was bought as a junk/ parts to provide a roof for the Scamp..................

Dragged this out of a guys garage with no front suspension and an 8-1/4 rear in it because I traded my old 1 for a pro stock hemi. Car ended up being b5 inside and out. Same as my old 1. Swapped an 8-3/4 in and got it to a roller. Gonna be a future project. Maybe the hemi goes in it.

Disagreed! That was a picture of when it was alive and you could drive it... It was after you got your hands on it that it's now dead...:poke:...

You disqualified yourself right from the rip. That's not your driveway. That Dart's in the street.

Yay, it's a proud day for halfafish! I got my first Red X from j par! And I never said this thing was dead from day one, although what you don't know is the brakes were essentially non-existent when that first photo was taken. I coasted to a stop about 100 feet from where it exited the PO's back yard, right behind the black truck in the background. It is currently very much dead, although my work to get it roadworthy has resulted in more deadness than its previous level of dead.

That's not even in his neighborhood! And again that's when it was running! LOL...

True, both of you. However, the car is indeed in my driveway dead as a doornail. I just went outside to get a crappy pic even though it's full on dark at the moment. Here it is, in all its non-operative glory. And this is exactly what I see from my office where the computer sits.

Alright, alright. Late entry accepted.

I never said that you said it was dead from day one I said that was a picture that you were showing was when it was not dead..

I'll grab a photo tomorrow of mine if I remember.

69 Dart conv. Been sitting up on them jack stands in our basement since 96 or 97. I took the hood, doors, fenders and decklid to the media blaster on 9-11-01 :( Haven't really touched it since, but have gathered most of the stuff to fix it. It's a 273/904, PS, PB, PT, AC car...and all matching numbers.

I unknowingly killed a '49 Studebaker President daily driver with a tarp one Pacific Northwest winter, over 30 years ago. Completely destroyed everything in the interior. Still makes me shudder when I see a car under a tarp.

You still never answered your own question... "Why" is it dead...

Slow down and READ the thread, amigo. :poke:

If that's too complicated, let me slow down. It was no good to drive anywhere on a public street from day one when I got it. My work to get it roadworthy has made it LESS roadworthy, but that's a work in progress. Come see me on Memorial Day. Barring some unforeseen disaster, it will be drivable by then.

Couldn't agree more. It will only be under there for a few weeks, then it's back inside the shop. And my interior is already garbage, so no worries of hurting it.

I'll hold my breath till memorial day then LOL.. you missed your opportunity a couple of Sundays ago for me to pin your eyeballs into the back of your head... I was even having thoughts of hitting the nitrous button... And giving you a real holy crap moment...
Edit: AMIGO... LOL...

Ok here’s my 69 Dart custom. Tags are from 2012 not to bad. As it sits has an 8.75 rear end no engine, transmission, fenders or hood. I’ve owned Dart since 99’. Reason off the road collecting parts for a full restoration.
