Hi All,
I am converting a 5.2 Magnum to V belts , i have fitted the timing housing and pump from a LA318 i have which also has an alternator with a double pulley but no other pulleys came with this engine when i bought it. I did find locally (in Spain) a aluminum water pump (2 groove 6 1/2") and crank pulley (3 groove 5 1/4) that needs slight modification to fit. My intention is to just run with alternator/water pump and when its all running ok fit A.C. later on, power steering i'm looking at electric so leaving that for now so the third groove on the crank pulley will not be used i guess.

What would the normal pulley set up be with and without A.C. , is it single and double pulleys
Don't really get why the alternator has a double pulley.
V belt size, is it an 'A' 1/2" wide belt ?

Any photos would be helpful.

My 5.9 with v-belts and a sandin AC compr.

WHY? A few reasons-
I pulled the whole drive train out of a 93 Cherokee and stuffed it into a 60 Studebaker Lark but first problem was couldn't squeeze in the Jeep power steering box and as Studebaker PS was an expensive option i decided on EAPS so the serpentine system would need modifying anyway.
Also here in Spain i need an inspection to register the car so if they pop the hood and see a serpentine system they will assume its non original engine and request costly engineer reports whereas if they see at a glance an old looking engine with V belts its very unlikely they will question its originality.
Finally it will see the road a lot quicker if i am just dealing with water pump and alternator belts and i think the engine will look smarter with a V belt set up.

OP, there exist white books on nothing but Mopar Pulleys. They will tell you the part numbers for which ones fit what with whatever options. Find one of these books.
Get ALL of your pulleys and brackets (numbers) from the same vehicle. Most of this is reproduced in the states and you can buy new as a set. It is NOT recommended to mix/match from various vehicles.

I did look at a pulley set but at $240 + shipping + import tax + customs charge = $440 , i'm fitting LA parts on a Magnum so its already a mix and match, all the pulleys i have are the same V groove and the correct diameter so as long as they are lined up correct with the right belt i don't see any problem. All i really wanted to know is confirmation of V belt type and what configurations people are using.

Yep, and getting them lined up will likely be worth $440 by the time you sort them all out in a land without Mopar-laden salvage yards (which is also Midwest USA). I've played the pulley game. I do not envy your position. I don't know where the Magnum spacing differs. Can't help you there (not that I could help much to begin with.)

So just fitted the spacer my friend made for the crank pulley and it fits perfect, checked with belt alignment tool and its spot on in line with the pump pulley so for a total of $60 i now have new aluminum crank and water pump pulleys so on to the alternator, thanks to the pics sent i now have an idea of how its mounted so need to make a bracket and spacers.
Can anyone confirm the belt measurement as in height and width ??? The only V belts i have are from a British 6 cylinder and they look small on the pulley.

Virtually all replacement alternators come with dual belt pulleys. This allow them to stock one part number cutting down on inventory.
