Took me awhile to post about my best friend Buddy

I’m sorry Mike, so sad but glad he passed away peacefully with you all. It was nice chatting with you the other day and if you need a laugh or cheering up to pass time you can call anytime.

We have had to put done several really good labs or the years.
Certainly some of the toughest days I have ever had and would not wish it upon anyone.
Trust me it gets better with time and you will always have the memories.

Jeez Mike....i'm sorry to hear this....you'll have a lifetime of memories.

Man it’s tough I know. I’ve said it before, problem with mans best friend is they don’t live long enough. Sorry for your loss.

Sad to hear Mike. This is Harley. My grandkids dog. He left us last year after having lived a long life as well. They are great and loyal friends. He loved meeting other animals, even if they didn’t like him!

Sorry for your loss, dogs become so much more than just a pet, saying goodbye is always a heartbreaking time. He's not hurting anymore, take comfort in that knowledge, you did what was in his best interest, as painful as it is for you.
R.I.P. Buddy

Very Sorry for your loss Memike.....13 years was a pretty good run t.R.I.P. Buddy......

Condolences on your loss - hate watching pups go over the rainbow bridge, but I don't ever want to live without them

Thank you all for the comforting and caring words, many of you watched Buddy grow up with me here on the hill.
He was a great provider for protection, fellowship and love, something I believe everyone needs.

RIP my old friend

I look at that face and I know that dog was loyal, true and a big lover. What a wonderful companion you had.

I haven't posted here in a very long time nor have I owned a Mopar for quite a few years now, but I have to say that I'm so sorry for your loss Mike. I went through the same thing with my old boy Mutley a few years back but the vet screwed up the appointment to have him put down so he had to suffer for a few days more before he went on his own, it was very hard to go through. Mutley and I 6 months before he passed. I have this pic framed and hanging in my shop, and his collar hangs beside it. P.S. He was 16 which is a long time for a big dog (lab/shephard).

When Chewbacca reached the end of the line, it was a very difficult decision to make, please enjoy your memories with Buddy, it is odd how they creep into ones heart, and one hates to say goodby

Sorry, Mike.

I know what you're going through.

We lost a 10 year old cat last month, and we have another 10.5 year old that is dying from cancer.
We found out about that right after we lost the other one.

He is sitting with me as I write this and it's hard sometimes to keep the tears in.
He does not seem to be suffering, and he has a good appetite.
Not sure if we have 2 days, 2 weeks, 2 months or 2 years.

I just saw this thread for the first time, Mike. I'm so sorry for your loss. Having to let our fur-buds go is one of both the hardest and most compassionate decisions we have to make. I've had to do the same too many times know exactly how you feel. I know Buddy was so grateful for you being there and holding him as he crossed the Rainbow Bridge. He'll be waiting for you on the other side.
I remember when you first got Buddy and can't believe it's been that long ago.
Always keep all of the good memories close to your heart and Buddy will always be with you.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

That never fails to bring a tear to my eyes, I have so many great dogs waiting for me there.
