Ok guys..
I'm converting colomn shift dart v8 auto to floor shift....
I have bought the repro harness to do the job...
Can anyone tell me where it plugs in??
I'm sure somewhere near the fuse box as it has a separate earth lead which would screw to the body....
I can't seen to locate a plug???
Thanks in advance

Hey John Dodge.

Pretty sure that plug goes to the neutral safety switch which is attached to the shift lever mounting bracket. Also controls the backup lights. ground wire goes to floor sheetmetal.

Behind the right kick panel. There is more to the harness than just what goes across the floor. There is another harness that goes across the dash to the area near the end of the steering column at the firewall and also a wire that picks up dash lighting near the radio. That is on a '66-'68. '69-later only has the light wires (power and ground). The ground wire attached to the body behind the right kick panel.

Neutral safety switch was never on the shifter. It was always on the transmission (automatic - won't get into the clutch safety switch). In late 1968 or 1969 beginning of the model year, the backup light switch was moved from the shifter to the transmission and shared a single part with the NSS.

Not sure of the car • pretty sure it matters.
My 66’ Barracuda plug in to the harness right behind the radio where the carpet touches the firewall / trans hump.

So the switch on the shifter bracket must be for backup lights??

Thank you Jim....and for everyone's input..
Ok I need to be a bit clearer....
I bought a repro floor shift harness with console tach wiring.....
I'm converting my 68 dart to floor shift....from a colomn shift with intention of finding and fitting a orig console tach..
So
Yes the nss is the single pin switch in the transmission....
The reverse lite switch is on the bottom of the steering column and its wired up as original
This car is a one owner 70k mile survivor so no wiring hacks here its completely standard in that dept....
So I have taken put both kick panels there are no existing plug for this floor shift loom to plug into.....
I have scoured under the dash...no plug...
It would seem by laying the harness out on the tunnel etc it should be routed left or right as it has the length to do that....
I'm still figuring towards the left as it has to power up the light circuit, the tach circuit and and the reverse lite circuit ...so it has to draw current ...
Any further clues guys??
I'm getting the impression the colomn shift dash harness is different to the floor shift harness ....so I may have to splice into the original day harness......???

Like I said it goes to the right and there is a second harness to complete the circuits. I have (somewhere out in my pile of parts) and complete setup for console tach, including the wiring to the coil (not done the factory way, but through the bulkhead). The dash harness is the same whether you have a console or not. The connector at the existing backup light switch is connected to the extra dash harness for the console.

Ok thank you Jim your input is very much appreciated....
Do you know if this other harness available reproduction???

I have no idea if it is available. I have one console auto car and already had the harness, but I also added stuff to it (my convertible top switch is going to be in the console.
