Got the 440 and four speed installed today with the hydraulic throw out bearing. He's going with the Holley fuel injection and distributor. Worked pretty much all day today, but it felt good to get this part of the job done. My grandson helped as well.

That used to be the only way I'd drop and install an engine in late 80s early 90s Volkswagen's! Made life easy!

Lookin good, Jim! Get that little man broke in good!

Oh, and we originally built this car (with this drive train) when Jeff was in high school...At Spring Fling in SoCal 2003 (he was a junior that year) wearing his pitching bullpen jacket.

It doesn't look like you installed the right front brake line first.

What kept you from installing the K member before lifting the engine into the compartment or maybe you did.

I can't remember what we have installed yet. There's still parts at my house. Calipers are one of the many things.

Impossible to roll the engine/k-member combo under the car and get the cherry picker in there. We rolled it in, lifted, and then mounted the k-member to the engine. After that we lifted the whole thing into place.

Maybe someday I will try putting an engine in from the bottom. Although the dozens of times I have done it from the top, I had no problems. Although the 2" CPPA headers on my 440 were a major pain. Rod

Oh, I thought you were doing headers on this car.
How did the manifolds fit?
I heard some info about surfacing them so they point more downward towards the block on the outlet.
What modifications did you need to do to the TTI head pipes?
My car will be 4 speed as well.
I am considering this for my next build, I was going to use modified Schumacher headers, but it seems that they are out of business for now.

BTW, thank you for all of your info and videos for modifying a spool mount K-Member for a big block A-Body.
Great detailed info!
Tom.

Originally we dinged the head pipes to fit, but I sliced and diced the ones on my Barracuda to clear. The B-body head pipes are close to fitting, but not quite. Things will be easier with the hydraulic clutch setup. His driver side manifold needed to be surfaced, but only because the surface was rusty powder. Things are tight and do hit a little with an RB, but nothing a little hammer work won't fix.
