Got an 8-3/4 sure-grip, and a decent looking set of 3:55 gears, and a large spline yoke for $100. Found local so no shipping.

I haven't had much experience with sure-grip's though. Can anyone tell me from the pictures if this is a clutch or cone style unit?
It's from a '68 Barracuda.

Lol thats what would like a complete 741 pumpkin. I have the factory 323 in our 67, would be nice to be able to swap back n forth.
This stuff is all from a 741 case, I have a nice bare 741' case sitting on the workbench just waiting for this stuff.

check that crosspin in your sure grip. It needs to be nice and round with no signs of wallowing out the hole.

Nice score and hope everything checks out good.

If you take the sure grip apart. Make a punch mark on each half to line it up properly when reassembling it. Just a safe practice.

Well, starting to think I bought a $100 paper weight. Brought it to work tonight and opened it up so I could inspect and run all the pieces through the parts washer. Pretty obvious that the cones are bottomed out.
Now there is a thread in the "how to" section that says you can have the ends of the cones machined down .030 and then put a shim on the other side. Dr.Diff sells the shims, seems easy enough. But there also looks like some serious wear where the gear rides against the inner side of the cone. Don't know if that's a problem or not. I'll try to post pictures this weekend.
