Ever try to drain the radiator from the t-handled petcock into a container only to have the stream go wonky?
Heres what I came up with to get the antifreeze into the container instead of the shop floor.
I cut an old Lucas oil bottle and hung it on the petcock.
It ain't dumb if it works right?

Nice.. You need to put this in the How to section

I always use a piece of vacuum hose or something that fits the end of the petcock and drain it into a jug or pail.
Always worked for me.......

This REALLY REALLY pisses me off. That I didn't think of this about 45 years ago!!!

Mopar Vince, great idea.

Now, can someone tell me how to drain the newer radiators with those stupid plastic petcocks? I have NEVER had one of them work. I always get mad and pull the bottom hose off and dump everything at once.

I've always had to grab them with a set of pliers to get them off, then if you're lucky it might drain.

I remember reading about some of the Chev/ GM stuff built in the late 70-80's. Not only did they not put block drain plugs in some engines, they didn't put rad drain cocks in 'em, either. Only way to drain them was pull the lower hose or siphon out of the side tank, and then knock out a frost plug on each side. I vaguely remember you could buy special freeze plugs with a drain boss in them.
