Hi, Just purchased an Edelbrock Performer RPM intake and was surprised to find the thermostat housing and tstat I removed from an Edelbrock Performer would not fit (To Small).

Looking for:
  • Date Range when Mopar used the larger housings and tstat
  • Large style thermostat housing (Non Chrome)
  • Heater Hose Nipple 1/2 npt to 5/8 Hose
Can pay with paypal
Shipping to 83709 (Would probably fit in a USPS small box)

Thanks Jim

On my Edelbrock RPM Air Gap I used the stock housing 69 318 Barracuda
Edit: If you have one close by Tractor Supply has a great selection of brass Male-Male Nips.....

Tony's Parts sells a brand new reproduction thermostat housing. Lots of originals are heavily pitted. I got my heater hose nipples in the HELP section at my local parts store. If the HELP line doesn't have what you need, they should have something behind the counter they can look up.

I want to say that the large thermostat housings(aluminum) were used up until 1980 or so. Then they switched to the smaller steel housings. Not sure of the exact year.

It may have been in the late '70's when Chrysler went to a different A/C compressor. It required an intake manifold design change for clearance.

You can order a housing for an older 318 or 273 from NAPA and get a cast iron one - less warping, less leaking

Thanks for the replies

I ordered the dorman housing with mixed reviews.

I am trying to find a thermostat. The hole in the intake measures 2 1/8. I have a couple thermostats from over the years and they measure measure 2 1/8 and fall through the hole

Searching though summits website using years 1968 and 1983 the same part number thermostats come up
This should be easier but I’m missing the boat somewhere
