I am replacing my intake gaskets on a 360 LA and there are some tabs that stick out from the head gaskets in all four corners. The Felpro gaskets have slits in them in the aprox locations as the head gaskets tabs. My question is ( since I did not get any instructions with them )do the tabs go underneath the cork gaskets or do they somehow bend and go into the slits on the cork Felpro gaskets? Or do I cut those tabs off?

Thank you in advance

I really don't know the purpose of them, but it looks like they may be to help the rail gaskets stay in place, along with the pin in the middle of the front & rear rails. But I always broke them off and used silicone for the rails (front & rear of the intake). Cork gaskets often hold the intake up because they are too thick, especially if there was any milling and/or aftermarket intake is involved.

I would get rid of the tab, it's not doing anything, I think that they are there to help hold both gaskets in place, but don't do a very good job of it. Your going to put silicone in those corners anyway. Make sure that your holes for the intake are a dead line up with the head holes, do that before assy. Not final assy and find out things are off. If the china rail cork/rubber gaskets are too thick, pitch them and put a tall bead of silicone (the aerosol can type) across the whole rail.
Clean up after torqing, and let it sit for 24 hrs.

I jut folded them into and over the cork/foam rubber gasket and dabbed the corners with RTV. That's what there are for. Only leaks I had were from under the intake ports, probably angle related. I think the tabs may be for retention of the dry gasket from crankcase pressure.
