My father is building a 440/512 for his new 69 dart.

We are looking at running the TF270 or the edelbrock victors.

How do these two heads compare? On paper the edelbrock heads seem to have a little more. It looks like the TF270 heads flow 352@.700

Thoughts?

The Victors take a .630-.650 offset intake rocker. Best run with an offset pushrod seat roller lifter. If the TF270s take a no offset rocker I’d be inclined to run them. Kim

You’ll have way more $$ into a set of Victors that flow 350+ than what TF270’s cost.

Ootb, Std port Victors flow in the 320’s.
MW Victors are in the 330’s.

I had a set of the Edelbrock Victor heads. Looked them over really close and sold them. The TF heads are very high quality and come out of the box ready to go. The Victor heads are unfinished business. You'll regret buying them.

Agree with Andy. I have a set of the maxwedge victors. I would have definately bought the 270 trickflows. The didn't exist when i bought my victors. Porting the victors, and getting the rediculously expensive rockers that you need for the victors, and dont need with the trickflows....... you decide.

Yeah the weird offset on the rocker arms plus the short installed height of the valve spring was what killed the deal for me. Plus I didn't like the odd design of the valley tray. That was before the TF heads were available so I bought EZ heads after selling the Victor heads. These days I'd use TF 240 for street, TF 270 heads for race up to 750 hp and then Indy heads if you want to make more than 800 hp. I don't use Edelbrock heads anymore. Which is odd since they were the first ones out there with a good aftermarket aluminum head for the big block.

I noticed you didn't mention B1 heads which were my other choice

B1-BS...... for people that like doing things the hard way...... with no up side.

original B1- should really only be considered for builds looking to be well into the 800hp+ range...... where you want to spend more than you would with Indy heads.......with the upside being you will have more hp potential.

B1 heads were great back in the day but why would anyone buy them today? Koffel hasn't made any changes or improvements to those heads for 20+ years. They never even got around to casting an RB intake manifold. Those heads are frozen in time. If a person is going to build a big engine and shoot for 1000 hp then something like the 572-13 heads would seem like a much better choice. At least you can buy intakes and headers that fit.

Didn’t the old “Wayne County” Pro Stock team run those B1 heads?

I have a pair of cnc`d victor knock offs that flowed 354 @ .0600 lift , but dont go up much after that . Bought hughs rockers for them , so far so good.
I f trickflows were out back then , I would have bought them, the victor type heads are long heavy mothers , but seem to flow as good as most others from what I`m reading.
I like the valley pan for them too , needs nothing special and dont have to remove a head to get it off , I pretty much made my own see thru valley pan..

There are several, 3-5? That all look the same. But everyone is after that 337.

I thought there were only two, the 337 and the one for stage six heads, you know, the worthless one? I almost bought the worthless one by accident once. I DID order one back when the were available at the dealer, but i must have got the wrong one then too, wouldnt come close to fitting my iron max heads. I had to return it.

Could also use a 337 mopar manifold, supposed to be excellent......if you can find one!
Yeah the old 337 intake would work really well with a set of TF270 heads. Hard to find that intake these days though. I ran an OOTB 337 intake on my old 505 race engine and it made right at 800 hp on the dyno. That was just a hair more power than the Super Victor. Which never made any sense to me since I had to use a 4500 to 4150 adapter on the 337 intake. But we ran them back to back and the 337 actually picked up a tiny bit of power over the Super Victor.

I actually don’t know. I would need my MP catalog to look.

Not to derail the thread, but what’s the story behind the breather extensions? No baffling in the valve covers?

I don't remember, might have just been something we had on hand at the time.
