The crank stroke was reduced to 2.97" giving 304 CID. I knew a racer running a Boss Mustang out of Vancouver, BC and met his friend from Seattle that ran a Z28 Camaro. Both used 9000 RPM red line but could push to 9500 to pass or keep from being passed. The Dodge and Plymouths ran 9500 but could be pushed to 10,000 RPM. The mandated carb was a special Holley that had the throttle plate size specified that gave about 820 CFM, but was expensive. John's team gave up a couple of HP and used the very common Holley 780.
