So there is a random picture thread and occasionally we post other things we have going on, so I figured I'd start a random project thread that is not car related.
To be fair, I posted the fireplace wall project in the random picture thead and then thought I should not have. So tonight I'm startin this thread.
Before and after of the fireplace wall and the new back splash in the kitchen. I used the same ceramic tile.for both.

I built sanded and stained this 8 ft long shelf for my wife to put all the family pics. The TV is a 70 inch, we already had the two matching standing shelves for the ends. Couldn't find a long enough shelf so I made one. I got it to match pretty close to the two standing ends??

Finally put the new mantle up. And our 24 yr old said we needed a bigger tv, so he went black Friday shopping.

The progression......

Camper is 8 years old. Other than the sofa and dinette, it's in great shape. Ordered new for it that is due to arrive today/tomorrow. . So our 12 yr old son Josh and I just took out the old. He didnt want to help at 1st, but once we got started, we laughed, joked, and got it done. Afterwards he said that was fun and cant wait to help put in the new. Took all of a out 40 minutes, including emptying the stuff stored under it. I told him it's my job to teach him how to do stuff like this in life.

Basement, worked on it only in the winter when weather was ugly. Took two winters to finish, did all myself with electrical out of a book. Had a pro check and do the final hook up to the box. Used a drywall lift but ceiling was difficult, called my nephew to help with that. Learned a lot as the project progressed. My wife is as happy as I am when I go downstairs and get out of her hair, especially now.

Is there enough room to build an engine down there???:poke::thumbsup:

Vintage HP test gear, talk about bullet proof! Rescued and restored from sitting in an inch of water in the bottom of a scrap bin. Oscillator, attenuator and an AC volt meter with dB scale. Everything meter you need to tune up cassette decks in a telephone test set case. Disassembled, cleaned, repaired rotted traces, cleaned every potentiometer and rebuilt the 4 strange 6V Ni-Cad battery packs (5 x 1.2v stacked NiCad button cells) in the Oscillator and the meter. Still smells like sour milk for some reason?

A labor of passion!!

Next project. My daughters neighbor cleaned out her basement and gave my daughter two of these houses. My granddaughter (5) wants grandpa to repair and paint them because she knows I can.. Good winter job I guess, but getting them apart without breaking them will be fun. She owns me, so I better do a good job to make her happy. Man I hate the winter.
