Help electronic distributor in my 62 wagon how to install

My 360 has electronic ignition in it what all parts will I need to run this electronic distributor is it a simple fix or do I need to go with a point distributor like a dual point or something like that anybody can help me out with greatly appreciated cuz I have no idea what I need to go to the junkyard an grab to put on mine. I am going to need coil also it's in my 62 Lancet 170 slant trying to drop the 360 in been fun just trying to get parts starting install this month!
 
Do search for "electronic distributor" or "HEI" There is lots of info already in here. Should be all you need to know.
 
You'll need an electronic distributor, coil, ballast resistor, ignition control box, and the pigtail harness for the box. For reference look online. 65'

You can wire up the stock Mopar ECU, either new or junkyard, or a kit from say, Summit

You can adapt a 4 or other GM HEI module to the Mopar distributor

You can buy an MSD and possibly other aftermarket ECU and hook that right to the Mopar distributor

You can yank the Mopar dist and install either an older Mopar points distributor, or several Chinesiozationized "all in one" systems such as "Skip White". You will NOT have room in that old girl for an "HEI look alike" that is a drop in dist with the huge GM HEI cap
 
Does the 62 have the heater box right where the LA distributor goes? electronic distributor from any non lean burn LA, ballast resistor, electronic voltage regulator and ECU, grab all the plug ends with 6" of wire too. Points is simple too, works fine. The 'ready to run' distributors they sell now are cheap, new and work great without need for the Mopar ECU

U are right about the room have very little

The Ready-To-Run HEI distributor by Ningbo is easiest and only $45 (ebay, Skip White Performance and others). You also need an e-core coil, which they also sell, or grab one from a Mopar Magnum V-8 engine. For less cost, you can use the Mopar e-distributor to trigger a GM 8-pin HEI module. Many posts. Grab from a 1985-95 junkyard V-8 truck and also grab its coil and cable between the two. I definitely wouldn't fool with the Mopar ECU box since it needs ballast resistors which you would have to kludge into your wiring and is less powerful, plus many replacement ECU's are faulty. Below is the 8-pin HEI on my 1964 slant engine.

Should of explained better dropping my 360 in the 62 Lancet,heater box is still in car. So need small cap distributor going to modify heater box seen it done on a car online here on our forum. The long and short of it is need for a 360 not my slant it runs great!
 
Standard Mopar distributor should be fine just make sure the curve is close for your motor.

Thank you that is just what I needed THANK YOU Thank distributor I have in the engine was in the engine and it was a running engine when pulled from the car so it ought to be fine it's a stock vacuum advance distributor
 
As long as the motor has no heavy mods it should work fine. Make sure the harness you get is not brittle. Almost pays to buy one usually around 30 from summet

I need one to do a mock up on the machine. I have a nos mopar one but do not want to use it for that
