What’s cool about where you’re from?

We had the busiest supervised drug consumption site in North America, until the government pulled it's funding due to some "financial irregularities".

Lincoln, Illinois

The only town ever named for Abraham Lincoln while he was still alive sports this downtown monument in the shape of a two-foot-long ear-to-ear watermelon slice. It commemorates the day in 1853 when the future 16th President, who was then just an Illinois lawyer, christened his namesake community by slicing open a melon and pouring its juice onto the ground. In agreeing to lend his name to this place, Abe reportedly said, "I never knew anything named Lincoln that amounted to much."

I've lived in 23 of the United States, some more than once in every corner and lots in the middle. Big towns and the middle of nowhere.

the best part.... the people....made this long strange trip all worth taking.

I always thought Harpers Ferry is pretty cool, lot of Civil War local history in our county.
John Brown`s raid happened there, caught and hanged in Charlestown, not far away.

Grew up in the suburbs of Eugene Oregon, it's not the same as it once was. Still very beautiful but has probably 50% New growth from California and they brought a lot of their liberal b******* with them to be local is somewhat of an odyssey now, also highest homeless per capita in the United States Eugene Oregon. Track Town USA doesn't quite mean the same thing as it used to!
Cool thing, Animal House was filmed in your town... unless you're too young to know the flick!

Born, raised and have lived all my life (so far) in SoCal. Grew up in the 60s at the height of the muscle car era right in the middle of Lions, OCIR, Irwindale and Pomona.
I can be in either the mountains, desert or beach in about an hour from pulling out of my driveway. I can do breakfast in the mountains and a late lunch at the beach if I want to.
And I can drive my Mopar (when it's finished) all year long.
'Nuff said!

From the history side......

Lincoln ordered my town burnt, along with all the Mo Kan border towns in Mo.

That’s my hometown also. Born raised in Eugene moved out to springfield. The amount of homeless here is uncanny. Used to be a lot nicer in the 90s, it’s different now, drugs are pretty much legal.

It's Texas bro! The greatest place on the face of this entire freaking *** planet!:soapbox:

I'm kidding of coarse.......kinda. :icon_fU:

But I do say that there's really no place like Oregon, with the Pacific ocean on one side and the Cascade mountains on the other, huge stands of Douglas fir to high desert all across the state. When I grew up here there was a drag strip on one side of the street and an asphalt circle track on the other about a half mile out of town, those were the days!!

Small world, we lived in Monroe. Between Eugene and Corvallis. Played many a game of hockey in Eugene ice rink. Still have a bunch of family in Albany, and Lebanon.

I always like to learn new stuff, What’s cool or unique about where your from?
I live in the Palm Springs of Washington.
It reminds me of the old spaghetti western's Clint Eastwood made famous. I love Washington, there's everything, high desert, massive forests, ocean, lakes, rivers, a few mountain ranges. But there's 1 part that nearly ruined it all Seattle it's inhabitants are mentally unstable.

Southwest Missouri. Missouri is a "Constitutional Carry" state. Hard to beat these Ozark's. For the most part, the weather is pretty moderate. Surrounded by lakes, forests, and rolling hills. Springfield is called the Queen City of the Ozarks, ( I call it the Crime City ) I can be about anywhere I need to be in Springfield, in about 15 minutes. Arkansas, Kansas, or Oklahoma, in about an hour. Home of Bass Pro Shop, Hammonds Field, ( Springfield Cardinals baseball ) probably the nicest minor league stadium in the league, short trip to Branson, and Silver Dollar City. For the size of the city, it amazes me what all businesses it supports. 5 Wal Mart Supercenters, 5 Neighborhood Markets, 2 Sam's Clubs, building a new Costco, 2 Menards, 2 Lowes, Home Depot, 2 Harbor Freight, etc. and all busy, what seems all the time. I'm guessing at least 200 restaurants. 2 major hospitals, with some of the best medical care available. Too much more to mention. And the majority of people are friendly. Almost forgot to mention, lots of cruise in's, and car shows, along with Ozark Raceway, and Mo-Kan Dragway.
