Attention when you have a California C.A.P package and the nipple outlet on the drivers side. When you stand in front of the car and looks down the nipple should be at 4.30 . Then you will get a correct routing the the breather on the valve cover.

Have you seen more than one original with this? What was your reference?
I have always liked it to the rear, this is a 2bbl (same air cleaner). Second picture is the same car before restoration showing it more forward.

I never saw either as right or wrong but with the Commando it would be correct only one place.
