My 73 340 Dart Sport acquired an 8 3/4 rear end sometime prior to 1976. My guess it was for the anson sprint wheels it still has. My question is whether there is a recommended torque value for these. Also, I’m guessing that there are aftermarket as I can’t find any info on them in the 1973 service manual. Any ideas?

People will say don't use them but I used them in the late 80s on a 340 demon with a sure-grip and never had a problem with them loosening up or cracking they had a conical seating lock washer that really helped them stay tight... I don't think I would run them on the front that seems a little sketchy...

Look in your factory service manual.

IIRC 7/16 = 55lbft
1/2 would be a bit more 75lbft?

I could not find in the factory service manual. I torqued 50 so I’m a little shy. Thx

Those adapters were allowed at the strip way back. They worked surprisingly well IMO.......until you sheared the stock 7/16" lugs with slicks after several passes. The tire rolls out the back and folds up the lower rear quarter on the way for ya'.

Those cast adaptors are junk. There isn't enough material around the second set of studs. They'll work for awhile, but they're prone to cracks even with normal use.

They make billet adaptors that are similar that will work just fine if properly torqued. The problem is that most of them are 1" thick. Those cheap cast adaptors are usually 3/4", so if your wheels fit now they may not with a thicker adaptor.

Yea. They’ve been on for 40+ years but I’m not getting a warm fuzzy about keeping them

Thanks. This is prompting my anson sprint replacement plan
