DING DING DING SOUND THE ALARM!...

I think I'm gonna stick mine on that 5.9 magnum now while it's still in the truck runable and use it to practice my carb rebuilding and tuning. I have several carbs that iv collected that need rebuilding that would be a good mule engine to practice with. I know it runs good now with the fuel Injection.
I'm wondering if you wouldn't have to put an LA distributor in it as well...

Idk im not sure how that would work with the electronics. I was thinking about it last night. I'm wondering if the o2 sensors and all that would change with the computer. I'm sure there would be a way to bypass the computer and run like a hei Ignition. I have a couple old school brain boxs I could wire something and use a la distributor if I had to. I know it can be done there are alot of guys running carbs in 2nd gen rams

I think you might have a tough time making it run with the stock electronics and a carb. I would think you'd have to some other form of ignition to make it run with a carb, but I could be wrong.

Thanks man yea I was thinking abut that too.

The Magnum distributor is only to control injector timing and the computer utilizes the cam, crank, TPS and MAP sensors for fuel, timing, etc. I would dare say if the computer doesn't have these inputs the fuel pump won't run past the prime either. Anyway, I'll quit with the thread derailing.

Thats great info. I appreciate it. When I get closer to this project I will start a thread and tag you in it so we can discuss it. So we don't derail this one haha

All the SM small block Mopar intakes I've seen lately ran have worked really well and have had good good casting quality.

What year truck did you have?

Looks like the Speedmaster site now has a cyber Monday sale going as well, for today only. Second chance to get orders in!
So much for saving money. I just ordered small block rods with .984 pin size. I did a live chat today and they claim the website part number is correct; that PCE274.1047 should have had a .984 pin diameter. We'll see what shows up.

Those are the correct ones....I have a set coming also...plus bought a set last summer......

Thanks for the reassurance. I want to use the .984 pins so I have a wider selection of less expensive pistons to choose from. I hope they show up correctly, because I ordered two sets.

Here is picture of them,,,shows part no,....the rods weight 680 grans,,,and it has a .984 pin in it,,,

Wholly crap my parts aren’t here yet.
I placed an order late in the sale last year. Fabricated valve covers were cheap enough I wanted to see them. They went out of stock before my order was fully processed, and have never been in stock since last year that I have seen. So, I am waiting one whole year for parts. LOL.
Because so many items were out of stock, I did not save up for the sale this year, thinking they would not do it, but I ordered a couple things anyway since they did 40%. I am already wondering if next year will be 40% again.

Got the assembled pair of small block heads today. They looked great, no casting flaws of any sort. I’ll do Some mild deburring and those checks like in 318willrun’s video. Aside from that, that’s all I’ll do to them.
