Reading here and the shop manual, but having trouble finding them both.

Here is what I think is the turn signal flasher, to the left of my steering column near these fuses(?). The next one should be my hazard flasher (?) And thats on my instrument cluster? Or by the ash tray as some have said on FABO? How do I find that one? Is it square or is it circle lol.

Yes I know my wires are hanging... one day they won't be...

On my Dart, I removed the ash tray and the flasher was mounted above and to the right of the ashtray track.

Open ashtray, press down on the flexible bar, the ash tray will drop and pivot a bit lower to remove it.

Ah, you have the AC knee knocker...
Its easier to reach under and feel the flasher without that, its mounted in a clip but easily is removed and the wire has enough slack to allow it to dangle beneath the dash.
Can you remove the ash tray track? I see a few screws in your pic.
Flasher should be mounted just to the right side of that track.

Yea I have the ac set up... although it doesn't work yet..

I'll try and undo those screws and see if I can get it out. I was getting yelled at that I got home and started working on the car without helping with the kids... oops..

I had some spare ashtrays powder coated when I had dash frame done. And I blasted/painted the ashtray frame/mounts silver (for sale too lol )
It was handy to snap a pic lol.
Thanks:thumbsup:

One day ill pull my dash and clean it up... I was hoping no one noticed how ugly it was

Little bugger! Couldn't get the metal part out, slid it side to side and didn't see the flasher there. Started taking the ac unit out and bam found it! Tucked up on the opposite side.. Replaced them both. 1 problem... either I can have turn signals or flashers... not both... im thinking its the flasher itself. Both say compatible with LED but only one works, I only have LED headlights not tails, or turn signals... yet...

the LL552 doesn't work, the EL12 does work... so when I get the kids to bed ill go and exchange the ll552 for another EL12 and try it out. This is exciting... uve never had turn signals or flashers before :steering:

Also I only have 1 light in the dash that works... I guess I'll have to change those too... Amazon hopefully can supply me with LEDs to go around lol...

Led compatible flashers have a dedicated ground wire.

The turn signal flasher as you found is to the passenger side of the ashtra (The photo above is upside down)

The emergency flasher is by the emergency brake.

Typically the emergency flasher is a different unit from the turn signal. More current passes thru it.

There is also a emergency flasher unit that is retangular.

Just say NO to LED lights!

If all you have for LEDs is the headlights, don't worry about led compatible flashers. Though quality led compatible flashers will be based on a timer circuit and shouldn't change the function of your signals or flashers.
I suspect you have a short or bad bulb socket somewhere causing your problem. I'll have to dig up the wiring diagrams tomorrow to see what might cause signal or hazard but not both..

When I switched the 2 flashers the opposite affect happened. So thats why I think the ll552 is bad, which ever slot it was in the lights wouldn't flash, but what ever slot the el12 was in the lights would flash.

I added plug and play headlights and they are 100x better. I couldn't see anything with the original headlights.

Sounds about right, then. As someone else noted, the hazard flasher deals with more current so be sure the replacement is the same p/n or at least rated for similar current.

I'm going to hopefully get the same exact one. I'm about to leave for the store.

That may also be the problem though, I think one is a 20amp and the other is a 12... ill have to look. All the tail lights and flashers are regular halogen lights.

Update. I didnt go last night to get a flasher, i started sanding and then it was to late.

Today picked up another EL12 and installed it.

If both flashers are EL12 the blinkers and Em Flashers do not work, the lights get brighter but do not flash, just stay brighter. If the flasher near the column is el12 and the one under the ac is a regular flasher(put old one there) everything works as it is supposed to. This is weird to me as it didnt work like this yesterday... I dont understand why the old 552 works (even makes clicking sound) but the new 552 didnt work, it would just make the lights brighter and hold them brighter but not flash them..

Hopefully that made sense....

Tldr- El12 near steering column and old 552 near air vent- flashers and turn signals working properly.

You have halogen tail and turn signal bulbs? Not sure I'd use those. They generate an awful lot of heat. They'd melt the lenses on my '66 Barracuda.

I have stock replacement 1157 and 1156 bulbs in the tail and turn signals yes. I got them at autozone, would have bought LED but they were expensive at autozone and I wanted to see if the bulbs and flashers fixed everything. Which they did

Eventually ill probably switch them out for LED bulbs but for as often as I drive at night these should do for a while. I'll probably get new rear lenses when I go to LEDs because my lenses are all kinds of broken on the edges. They are pretty bright at night though, this is when they were flashing.

Oh, so they're not halogen, they're incandescent bulbs. Those should work fine with a stock flasher. If and when you go to LED, you probably will have to change them.

If you haven’t updated your lights to a Crackedback harness you should do that before anything else. Best money you’ll ever spend on lighting.
