Hole in the head

-
I had the stitches removed this afternoon. Still need to keep it covered for 24-48 hours. The specimen was sent away 2 weeks ago but the doc says it takes 4-6 weeks to get the results. Kim

Ouch! Man that sucks praying for good news with the results. Heal up and get well soon Buddy

Bandage off. Just needs to heal up. Kim

Ya, I’m pretty happy the way it’s healing up. It did hurt some for a few days. The pain was more annoying than anything. Kim

Looks like it's healing up really well. For me, when I have a place healing up....the hardest thing is to NOT pick at it! :BangHead: I hate scabs, and just want them gone.....lol.

Yes, pretty good. I always heard not to pick the scab off. But I did this time. Kim
All this squawk about a scab. What you ought to do is let some one bore a hole in your head and stick a probe in it connect it up a couple of weeks later and if that doesn't kill you, try it again in 6 - 8 months. Photos are of right side.

DBS? Why'd they do each side separately? Were you awake during the part where they located the electrode?
Thanks for asking, DBMS, correct. symptoms are at different progress. Medulla crosses signals rt. brain, left side of body. You are out for the drilling, and you are brought out far enough that you are talking to the Docs. I remember saying "OOOOoooh!!! that feels nice leave it there ! (they did not :( ) i have been tough it for both sides. Got a couple of "Hellboy" bumps.

(they did not :( ) I have been through it for both sides. Got a couple of "Hellboy" bumps and an ID card for each device for TSA screenings. Batteries and control units sit on top of collarbone. Need replacement every 4 years. Looking forward to rechargeable ones. Can't go more than 10 feet underwater as head may leak. They told me no sky diving, either. Photo is of me 2 yrs post-op for the right side 1 yr on the left. We got it in just in time before COVID. ( Rings are to identfy where the probes are centered. )

IF YOU MEET ME IN PERSON, YOU WON'T SEE THEM, I ALMOST ALWAYS WEAR A HAT.

I guess I need another 1. Done Thursday morning as an outpatient. Had a skin lesion. 4 stitches inside 4 outside. It was sent away to get analyzed. Was hurting like hell but not too bad today. Feeling a little weird though. My sister says it looks like a spider. Should look pretty cool when it heals up. Kim

Thanks! I should've worded my question differently. Why did they do a separate surgery for each side (1 yr apart?)? Was it to make sure the first one was successful before proceeding with the second?

Also, if you don't mind, what condition is your DBMS treating? How successful has it been?

I had DBS surgery 7 yrs ago at the age of 31 for a dystonic tremor. I'll definitely going with the rechargeable battery for my next one (likely this Spring). They did both sides in one surgery for me and I was awake for the duration of the placement of the electrodes. It was pretty shitty. The only bump I've got is where the butt splice connectors are on the side which isn't bad at all. I may shoot you a PM with some other questions if you don't mind.

btw- With that ugly *** dome, I'd be wearing a hat too. LOL just kidding!

@oldkimmer - Have you gotten the results back yet????

mopowers, thanks for asking. No I have not. They did say 4-6 weeks. He said he would lmk if it was cancerous. I had my surgery Nov 4th. I’ll phone tomorrow to see what’s up. Kim
