Does anybody else prefer to daily their classic over their more modern car/truck?

I personally do! My 65 Lesabre may not have all the creature comforts my 11 F250 offers like sound deadening , a/c, ride quality ect ect. But I just like jumping in the Buick and taking off.

It may not compare to any 2020 model but I don't care. It puts a smile on my face everytime I crank it over and hear that cold start echoing out the flowtech mufflers.

The smiles, waves and thumbs up from fellow motorist is just the icing on the cake.

Here's to all of us may we be blessed with many more years behind the wheel of our classics.
 
My oldest son's only transportation is his 71 Valiant. My other two son's have 80s D100s. They don't like driving newer stuff, and neither do I.
 
I take it every time I can. Supermarket,drug store, Home Depot, anywhere with a big parking lot so I can park wayyyyy over there. When I'm walking to it someone is usually looking at it or asking if it's mine on the way to it. Conversation break out and I made a new acquaintance. I'm retired so I'm usually in it once a day to go somewhere or nowhere.
 
I daily drove my 65 Dart for quite awhile, 25 mile round trip about. Now it’s just my backup vehicle, but would like to daily drive it again soon.

Yea buddy I feel the same nothing better than getting in my old car and just driving and burning rubber a few times. It rumbles and shakes and makes me happy.
 
Yup. Love my 78 sport fury, and my 85 d150, plus my son's 80 d150 stepside, 89 ramcharger and 72 fury 9 seat wagon.
Need to get going on the 80 volare that has been a pile of parts for too long now.
 
Used to daily drive my dart sport when it was a slant sixer. Not alot action to drive but was very reliable never broke down. 15+ years later it has a hot 360 and 3.91's out back. Had 2.45's before engine swap! Now only reason not to daily drive is other drivers are so careless and scared to have a wreck. But it still is reliable as before just more fun!!:)
 
All the time until the snow flys.
I bounce back and forth between my Barracuda fastback , 78 Dodge MH and my BMW dual sport in the summer. The Ram 1500 only gets drivenin the winter
 
I do! For years it was my '65 Valiant sedan year round, then a '74 Scamp year round, now my '68 Polara wagon (currently for sale) year round. I also have a '75 Ford F250 4x4 that gets driven year round.

My daily and only transportation is a 68 dart. I bought it as a shell missing the whole driveline for $600. In 2010

By vin, it's a GTS but I have been driving it for several years with a slant six and 833 OD. It's put together with parts I had laying around.

A couple years ago someone tried stealing the GTS hood inserts so I swapped the hood to a flat hood (they couldn't get the inserts unbolted fast enough). Other than that, it's been a relatively dependable car and has gone everywhere with me.
 
We put over 100 miles on Vixen Friday afternoon. To Macon, then to Gray, then to Milledgeville, all over Milledgeville and back home to Jones County. We've been using her for over 90% of our errands. We rarely take the Escape anymore.
 
I drive #projectvertfish every day it isnt raining. I have a 44 mile round trip from Watsonville to Santa Cruz and back each day
My other vehicles are a 2009 Harley XR1200, a 2019 Dodge Charger GT and a 2015 Ram 1500 Laramie 4x4 Hemi.
All are nice but the vertfish by far makes me the most happy to be out driving.
Especially with the top down.

I have spent most of my life driving junk. I fixed up a 77 jimmy and drove it,but my younger brother wanted it in the worst way. So i sold it to him.
He wrecked it in 3 months. That was 17 years ago.
I have been buying tools and fixing everybody’s crap for so many years, about had enough.
So i got a 65 Barracuda,76 dart sport and 51 Fargo. Fargo should be ready for spring, as my parts hauler, and then onto the other two cars. The Dart is for the wife to drive to work, we got it back after 30 years of it sitting at a farm.
its about time i had something fun to drive.

Thanks. It used to be brown, when my dad passed and I got it. Drove it for 10 years, then the body rotted out badly. So I bought the green one, it was a 2wd. I swapped the body, put it onto the brown truck's chassis. Been green for a few months now.

Yeah, they say that's the best way to do a 4X4 conversion.....but I want to convert Gladys to 4X4 bad. lol

Its very quick and very maneuverable. Not like my previous Road Glide that I traded for the Barracuda. That thing was comfortable, but not very nimble.
I put 33k on it over a 3 year period. I kinda miss it but I don't regret trading one bit as it was going down in value every day as opposed to the vert fish that gets more valuable.

The Glide was a nice bike, but it ain't half the bike that XR is. That thing's a bad dude.

Every September long-weekend, 6 winters running, the HO 367 came out, and a smoggerteen went in. Some winters it had a manual trans, sometimes an overdrive; and some winters it was an automatic.
Then, May long weekend, the 367 went back in, having been refreshed, along with whatever trans I intended to run that summer, and sometimes/usually, the rearend was changed as well.
I had a lotta money tied up in that combo, and I figured it was cheaper to be pro-active in catching problems in the making, than fixing them afterwards. And I did catch a couple of doozies.
But by 2004, the engine was as tough as it could be. I did the swap one last time in 2005, but since then the 367 has stayed under the hood, and I never opened her up again; and I retired her from winter-driving; cuz I sold the smoggerteen, together with it's A998/2800TC/3.55s.
With the 318/automatic and 4 studded tires she was almost unstoppable. She was a lotta fun no matter how she was combo'ed out.
Between the three engines she has known, I'll guess the chassis has over 150,000 that I put on her, and the car had over 70,000 when I got her.
She's been in my stable since 1978. We had a good run together. But she's tired now....... like me; we got a lot of miles on our respective trip-counters..

This is the stuff I love to read. People enjoying their classics rather than parking them inside a barn never to see sunlight again. Or loading them onto a trailer for every show. Life is short we should enjoy our treasured possessions and make memories while we can.

I'm planing on getting a small pop up camper to tow behind my Scamp and just drive and meet up with FABO members at car shows.
