Thats to bad, I haven't been to one in years but attended their events at Indy, Pittsburgh and Virginia over the years and always enjoyed them. I also attended almost all 31 Mopars at Englishtown they had, I only missed one or two due to rain, I miss them even more.

Sad to see it happen on the East Coast.
The last few years of MoPars at The Strip I noticed that more modern machinery was showing up in greater numbers to race while the number of older muscle participating in the race events seemed to dwindle. It’s just my opinion but it seemed that more people were putting their money on a ScatPack or Hellcat instead of putting it into an old B or E body.
Any other opinions/observations?

can only speak to Monster Mopar and Holley Moparty. I race at both.
My take is the older car numbers are pretty constant, the modern stuff is on a huge uptick.
To me, that is a good tell for the health of the sport. The newer cars have introduced more people into these events.
The last time Monster Mopar was run( year ago last summer) had the biggest car count racing wise ever...somewhere close to 600 cars.

This is the trend of the future of motorsports, I am afraid.

Two dates I almost never missed at Keystone. The Curt George Mopar race and Night of Fire.
Those were the days.

Fuckin better not, I'm not even done with my car. This is stupid (DEM) politicians kowtowing the the church of climate change & the media triggered youngsters.
The aftermarket could help out by lessinging the costs of speed parts to help more people get involved.

I posted this on Moparts too and told them Bob and AJ opened up the Curt George Mopar race years ago to all makes to keep it going. They were losing out of state cars every year and this helped it survive. It still pissed off some.

It's also the fact that many of us are getting older and things change. For 20 years I traveled all over this nation racing at many great tracks. Many all Mopar events.I loved ever minute.
No sponsors anymore or vendors like it used to be.Internet sells took care of that.
Costs are sky rocketing at tracks for insurance, track personnel, etc.
The first Mopars at the Strip cost was $25,000 a day. Personnel $5,000 a day.Insurance binder $15,000. Oh you want us to turn the lights on when it's dark ?
Add $1,000 per hour. This went on for 11 years.I could go on.Then a accident in the pits happened. Who got sued ? Not the track,, the promoter. I feel bad that it has come to this.

Whats the solution?
Racer owned tracks.
When I was a kid in the 80's Seattle international raceway had tv ads, I guess that's very expensive nowadays.

Most of these races are budget friendly with lower payouts. Even if you win by time you pay entry, fuel, towing expenses, etc you lost money. If you hit multiple race tracks like some of us we see our Mopar friends and many others. Raise entry fees and payouts you lose the budget racer that goes to see his Mopar buddies twice a year. Advertising dollars are out there and paid out at big money events. No racers no advertising dollars then all money for car show trophies and race payouts are on the person holding the events. I can race for 1200.00@65.00 entry fees and a 40 mile tow. Kinda hard to complete with that. So honestly I can’t answer your question and I guess they, the ones canceling the events can’t either. Monster Mopar moved their race date from Fall to summer. That same weekend my 40 mile from home track has three 15,000.00 races and a couple of nice gambler races. Hard to tow 400 mile round trip for two 1500.00 races.

You can race more than two races if you wanted to
Gamblers fri night. Take the box out and race two no box races. 10 flat race, etc. lots of racing opportunities

Yeah, that part I'm very aware of & yes, I too wish you were just kidding

This is due, in no small part, to the fact that anyone that bought a classic Mopar new on the showroom floor is 66, at a BARE minimum, and that's if they purchased in '72 at 18 years old.
Most of those folks are 75+. If they're still here.

And the largest part of classic cars is the nostalgia. You can't be as nostalgic for them if you were being conceived in the back seat.

I must say that the comment about them losing due to more/newer tracks across the country sounds like BS. I've yet to see more tracks in the midwest, unless they're featured on a website for people being nostalgic that they're gone....

Just wait until that moron / election thief Biden and Harris take over. $4 a gallon gas, higher taxes AND a ban on our "polluting" old cars will be coming. He has promised to end to fossil fueled cars by 2050. That means an end to drag racing in the not too distant future.

Hopefully it's pandering like those dems do so well, but the younger radicals mean it & have no consideration of the consequences, getting rid of internal combustion engine will have massive consequences & drag racing, well that's probably considered "white privelege" so that will be okay to get rid of.

New cars or not, East coast, West coast its sad. Tracks are closing.

It is sad and a changing of the guard. In the last 2 weeks we have seen a 60 year old Short track close permanently and just yesterday a race series that clipped. And that's local to me. I wouldn't even want to think about the total hit taken right now by all racers in the Country..... People put effort, money, and time into their hobby's and get short changed. It's a reminder of where things are headed in the automotive world..... Enjoy what you can while you can as an automotive enthusiast....

I see you are from Virginia. Things are actually pretty good on the East Coast. Your big track in Virginia really dropped the ball last year for Michael Beards St. Patrick’s Day race in March. The track prep was terrible so the racers sat around all day on a beautiful Saturday while they scraped the track, all day. Then the track was marginal at his next big money race there so his races are now being held in another state further south. What a shame as I had a blast at that race a few years ago.

My local track shut down for this year do to covid and some management issues. Sure hope they open for the 2021 season, but it don't sound to good.

Without question where I am located is a great spot for Drag racing. VMP is a saved facility (Thank you Tommy Franklin) and since you are into Bracket racing Richmond is actually the hidden gem. The owner has a consistent track and they drag a great number for the big races. Short shut down so if you send anything over 160 in the 1/4" better make some plans quick.

I work with a guy who is a track official at Richmond. It's been a tough year for all racers however we both believe the ones who stick out the Covid situation will prosper in 2021. People want to race. I am sure you do to so keep going with you program man... 2021 will be alot better...

Things are bad here in N.J. .. we lost Englishtown a few years ago which really hurt and now theres a strong possibilty that Atco will be the next to go. Luckily my local track ( Island Dragway ) 1/2 hour from my house is open, they had a tough year no question about it and got a few covid related citations but they survived. I still believe people want to race maybe not as many as before but there are still plenty who do. Islands test and tunes are packed which is good and the weekly Summit Series Points car counts are ok. I don't really do big money races but they seem to be doing ok, I know Maple Groves " Door Wars " was well attended as well as their Sportsman Nationals index race which I did attend , I went to Cecil County in Maryland last month for their final index race and friday night test and tune and they also were well attended. So there is hope it still saddens me to see any track close though.
