First I feel very bad for all of the unsuspecting new people who solicit his supposed services, I don't think it would take much of a search to get all of the bad info on him not to mention just checking his BB rating (which is said to be a F). Second, everyone who has been a member of pretty much any Mopar forum already knows what a D bag he is.
That's exactly what I was thinking. The folks new to the MoPar arena looking for answers have no idea that someone with such a prominent name in his field would do that.

You have those made, or did they come from GG himself?

Because I want, nay, need them.
I got these from some guy on fakebook who was pissed off at the Grover and so he stamped out a couple thousand of them. The Grover was sueing him over it. They ran me $25 each I think. Dude said he is selling them to help pay his legal fund lol. Money well spent IMHO. I figure at local shows that Joe average will never notice the tag, or scrutinize it enough to read it. The typical mopar guy will though, and they will get the joke.

I agree. And here's my GAYlen story.

A good friend of mine who lives in Warner Robins, has an original 66 Hemi Charger. Numbers car. Beautiful car. He bought it in 1970 off a used car lot in Warner Robins. The car has been local all it's life. Bought new in Warner Robins. Traded back to the same dealer in Warner Robins. Barry bought it used from that same dealer who sold it new. Growing up, even I knew about the car, because even though Barry is a bit older than I, we had several friends in common growing up. Everybody in car circles in this area knows the car. It has an extensive paper trail too. Barry has every bit of paperwork on it, from every repair it's ever had. Even warranty stuff from the original dealer.

Anyway, Barry and another mutual friend were at Carlisle one year. They run into Govier. As Barry had already corresponded with him about the car, he reintroduced himself. Govier said something like "Oh yeah, you're the guy with the unoriginal Hemi car". He said that because Barry's car didn't come with boxed in leaf spring mounts. Being an automatic car, I was unaware that they came like that. At any rate, Govier completely dismissed the car during Barry's previous discussion about a year earlier and then again in person. Now Barry is a real nice guy. Real Christian southern gentleman. But he said and I quote "That Galen guy was a real asshole" LOL
It's also quite possible that it was an early 1966 build, and just never got the boxing plates. Quality control wasnt the best back then, and sometimes early build vehicles didnt get certain parts they were supposed to for whatever reason.

FOUND!
Another one of the 11 1971 Hemi Cuda convertibles has been found under a bed of a brothel in Salt Lake City.
No one is quite sure how it got there.
But Mopar experts from around the country have verified it and after a complete concourse restoration it is sure to be featured in the “official” publications..
Noted authority Gail Gopher has inspected the car and suggested the use of only NOS parts. "I can absolutely assure all that this car is the real thing" he said.
The restoration is scheduled to begin as soon as a suitable doner car is located.
Also there is talk of launching a new website:
“for1971HemiCudaconvertableownersonly.com” which is expected to have as many as 11 registered users.

Only sice August? **** you have alot longer wait for that idiot. I didn't think anyone used that clown anymore. Hell I thought he closed shop and was working for someone now. You have to be nuts to send that clown any money.

Yup who knows why? All I can say is, he missed a grand opportunity to research a possible anomaly in the Mopar world.

Now that's funny. I thought you had gotten them from GAYlen hisself. This makes it even more funny.....er. lol

Rusty, that's why I was a bit hesitant to use them originally because this guy mentioned Grover sueing him over the use of his name on the plates, but after hearing about this jerk holding some dudes property as hostage for $25k , I dont feel guilty at all about painting them, and screwing them on

You know someone or something is seriously bad when not one person comes to their defense on these forums bc there is always someone who takes "the other side" if for no other reason that to see the chaos that will ensue.

Not coming to his defense, however: When I bought my Dart it came with a very nicely done write-up by Govier, it's several pages, and it looks very professional. Of course this was all done 15+ years ago... so it sounds like things have changed.

As many members as we have, you know he has friends here. He's had to have seen some of these threads pop up from time to time. When you think "everybody else" is problem, it's usually you. LOL

I take absolutely nothing away from what he's brought the hobby. A lot of good, for sure. But deadgummit. He ain't gotta be all nastied up. Holdin a broadcast sheet for ransom is just unethical. He's doin that just cause "he can".

He turned it into a business and feeds his family. Ya he can be a dick. We had a general manager at the dealer I worked at. When someone didn't want to pay a bill or expected something for free he would bring them back to the shop and say "see these guys, they are just like whores, they turn a trick and they get paid". Just to stand up for what Galen has done, he has compiled a whole lot of information that has added a lot to our hobby. I sure don't agree with his ways. He is a price gouger but not unlike guys selling parts that are hard to obtain. Don't like what he does or how he does it? Don't do business with him. Your choice!

I actually met Galen around November 2006, when we delivered a sold fastback to Hollywood, CA. We picked up a 69 M Code Dart that Galen was looking over. After we loaded it up he invited all of us to Goldberg's ranch house. It was the coolest thing! He lives just north of San Diego, CA. Goldberg wasn't expecting so many people, but he was super cool. He autographed his book for all of us and gave us a tour of his garages full of Mopar goodness! The black Hemi Dart did it for me!! I'll never forget it.

He may be a piece of crap but he likes puppy's and walks in the woods.
It is said that he he eats s**t sandwiches but I know that's not true because he doesn't like bread.

Now bring it on
(I met him years ago and he is a s***t head)

That was 14 years ago. People change. sometimes for the better, sometimes not so much. I dont know the guy personally. Honestly wanted a data tag for each car that was legit looking based on the options I can deduce each had. Neither was valuable in the grand scheme of things. Both notchbacks. One a 318 car one a slant 6 car. At the very worst, I enquired about tags that would read something like "No build sheet, guess how I was originally equipped" I mean both cars are going to be far different from what their originally assembled fender tag would show anyways. It's not like I would be trying to counterfeit anything. Nope, was a bit of a dick about it. The tags I have now are much much better

I'm not putting Galen in any light here! My story was, he didn't have to invite us to Goldberg's, but he did! It made the many miles on the road a memorable one. -Thanks
