People that can taste “bitter” don’t like IPA because they are “bitter sensitive” and are overwhelmed by the bitterness. People who are “bitter blind” don’t taste the bitter and taste the other flavors present instead.
Assuming that everyone has the same taste sensitivity is incorrect. What you taste isn’t necessarily what the person next to you does.
The same is true for spicy flavors. Some taste the flavors and others are overwhelmed by the heat.
I spent a large part of the past 3 decades doing “taste panels” and believe me, there are wide differences in what flavors people perceive and are sensitive to. Same is true for odors.
Don’t assume the guy next to you just “needs to get over it, and learn to like it”...maybe he actually physically can’t.
