Boulevard is trying some cool stuff. They took some of their unfiltered wheat beer and distilled it and maturized it in oak barrels. It is a over the top cool whisky. First off it smells and tastes sweet and has a distinct banana flavor. After a few seconds you get a spicy rye taste along with a mouth warming feel. A min. or two later the banana flavor comes back very subtle. There is no banana in the mash bill but the flavor is sure there. Add a couple drops of water and the banana goes away. You just get a rush of spice almost like rye with a black pepper taste and as the glass sits the fruit flavor slowly comes back. Crazy stuff but lots of fun to drink.

Beer aged in Bourbon barrels.
Gonna have to try that one. Bourbon and craft brews getting harder to find here. Don’t know if it’s because inventory has been depleted since a lot of the distillers went to producing hand sanitizer for a while or just the shipping disruptions. Usually can find it, but have to drive to a different store or two to find what you’re looking for

Back in June, we did the distillery outlet in Gatlingburg thing. Taste testing all the kinds they had. Really didn’t care much for OL smokee anything except for their blended bourbon and their sour apple pie whiskey.

Personally the only bourbon I truly like is Basil Haydens.

My favorite is Woodford Reserve, either their regular or their double oak. The double oak I think is smoothers and definitely has a more pronounced flavor. But the regular is very good too. Double oak is only stocked by one store here, besides sams club, and they’re always sold out it seems. Even before the pandemic

Woodford is good. Their rye is good as well. The double barrel not as good as the regular I think. I have a couple. 3rd shelf down, left side.

Maybe I will give that a try next. Been getting different ones... Been into a bottle of 1792 lately. Hit the Woodford double oaked last night. Tough call which I like better, but slight lean to the 1792 I think

Mike, I see you have Redemption, that's what I've been drinking lately for Bourbon. Neat with a splash of water.
Good stuff drinking it neat. we tried a few drops of water added tonight and it just broadens the rye flavor. Good stuff for sure.

Hey Chris, I am good, thanks. Trying to stay positive day by day. Turning 60 has got me to open my mind which is a good thing.
Well happy belated birthday and hopefully things are well for you down there in the Carolinas

Tap,well,spring,distilled or ditch?
I have never had the pleasure of sampling scotch or Bourbon.
Some occasional rye,but not my style. If i lived to be 100 that cabinet would last longer than me.
