1964 and 1965 Barracuda Reproduction Rocker Trim Clips
Hi all, this is a project I have been working on in the background for the better part of a year now. With the help of a couple of lovely folks on this forum and a fellow engineering student, we have been able to make a 3D printed reproduction rocker trim clip for 1964 and 1965 Barracudas. The clips secure the trim on the rocker panel shown below:
Here's a little bit about the parts:
- They have been patterned off of original OEM parts
- They are made from carbon-fiber reinforced Nylon on a high-precision MarkForged 3D printer. These printers can make parts with tolerances in the thousandths of an inch range.
- The CF Nylon material is very strong yet flexible enough to be installed easily and withstand all the conditions that a normal road-driven car might see.
- They have been test-fitted on an early Barracuda with positive results!
- Here is a picture of the two test parts next to an original clip:
Seeing as these parts are not in the highest demand and this is the first time I have sold these, I want to do a small batch of them and see what the results are. This means, if you are interested in buying these parts I would very much like your feedback and thoughts so we can improve them for the next run. I am thinking 5 people for the first run to keep things manageable, so first come, first served.
Pricing:
The materials for these parts is expensive but there isn't any other type of 3D printer filament that suits the bill for this application. Printer time on a MarkForged is valuable as well, so the cost of the first few runs will be relatively high. I am hoping to make these affordable depending on demand and what I can work out on the production side without compromising the quality of the parts.
Each clip comes with its respective center pins to expand the prongs and lock the clip in place.
1 clip: $8.00 USD ($8.00/clip)
Set of 6: $45.00 USD ($7.50/clip)
Set of 20 (whole car): $120.00 USD ($6.00/clip)
All prices include shipping to anywhere in the United States! If you are in a different country please contact me and we will work out international shipping and price accordingly. If you need a number of clips between 6 and 20, we'll just price them each at the set of 6 price.
