Only Drive Line Service in California knows at this point. While cleaning up my converted ball and trunion driveshaft (was converted over ten years ago now), I noticed an area on one end where there is the shadow of a former balancing weight. For now, I observe one washer welded onto each end of the driveshaft.I will never never know if the weight/washer fell off or was removed during the re-balance. From now on I will perhaps document where the weights are located on the stuff I get balanced (rim/wheel, driveshaft, etc.) That way I will know if the weights are missing later on.

If it doesn't "feel" unbalanced.....at about 145 (that's mph, not km/h) I wouldn't worry about it..........

Why in HELL would anybody weld a balance weight onto the slip yoke?

Maybe since the slip yoke does not slide into the transmission it is considered part of the driveshaft? We still have the four-bolt attachment on the transmission end (same as the ball & pinion setup).
